Front headed toward the St. Lawrence River area. Radar looks like arrival there in the next 1-2 hours.

Thanks for the heads up. The wind is really picking up now, and it was blowing pretty good before. Wife and I are sitting on the back porch enjoying how warm it is. Glad I got some outside work done before it hits. I'm surprised though, the rain hasn't hit. Just a sprinkling here and there.

It's been windy here day too. Finally blew the humidity out. I finally moved the pile of uglies next to my spliting area over to the fire pit stack this morning. Then watched the Patriots finally play some decent football.

Now I'm contemplating doing some more firewood work.

Within 15 minutes of getting out there the mosquitos attacked. We need a hard frost!

IMG_4819.JPG IMG_4821.JPG First full day off in over a month.
Got screens pulled, first run at leaf clean up at the in laws while they relax in Florida. Cleaned their garden, then some of ours.
Spotted a blow down earlier this week in the back of the field and took an hour or so to investigate. Salvaged some. Big dead Cherry I've been eyeing but leaving it for the wood peckers.

My wife bought me a bottle of new glarus staghorn Friday. It was very very good.

Yesterday I had several Oktoberfest beers. All on tap. I had Spaten, Fermentorium, Hofbrau, Hacker-Pshorr, O'so Brewery nitroberfest, and a New Glarus staghorn.

The best, was the New Glarus staghorn, then Spaten. The rest were all below those two beers. The O'so nitroberfest was the biggest disappointment. The nitro emphasized the flavors just the wrong way.
I didn't try the regular non nitro O'so Oktoberfest, so I am not sure if it was simply the nitro or just the flavors of their beer that didn't do it for me.

It rained, pretty much the whole day, but there were plenty of tents. Afterwards we all went to dinner and then back to our house where I lit a fire in the quadrafire, and we had dessert.

It was a great day, despite the rain.

Yesterday we brought some wood in before the rain but it looks like it will stay warm enough through the week that we won't need any fires.

That's where the luggage rack on the trunk would help. ;).

I haven't seen trunk luggage racks in years BTW.

    Yeah, I have hope too.
It's been an odd season for all of the NFL with all these major injuries.

The cold front blew through here also. Unfortunately.
Spent yesterday mowing and cleaning up for my mom's 91st birthday party.
We had the family over for a cook out. 23 people in all. We were able to roast the weinies on the fire, but had to eat inside.
The temperature is suppose to drop to 43 tonight with a low tomorrow of 37. Maybe set the first fire of the year tonight or tomorrow night.

AAA sucks up here. I bought another membership about 6 months ago, so much traveling to Yellowstone and with 5th wheel etc, the bigger package that covers all of them. I have called them from my previous house in Colorado and they came up my dirt road no problem, and that was wicked steep, seriously steep!

Today my truck batteries died a block from home:doh: (yes yooperdave , on the lake). They would not take a charge from jumping, we both noticed the truck was cranking different lately but I assumed it was the cold weather that came back-nope. Guess the batteries are from 2010. Normally WWW would go buy new ones and no biggie except $$, but he has appts out of town tomorrow, and I need to get lil one from the bus stop in the afternoon. I called AAA for help, my card says "mobile battery replacement", cool huh? NOPE, they will not service on a non paved road.

HUH? Over 1/2 the roads in Wyoming are dirt. Does that mean it should be 1/2 price for the membership?

Anyway the windows are down in it and we forgot the garage door remote, he went to take the quad back down for that and-it's dead too:confused:

Edit, this was after we tried to tow it, tight curved space, tires dug into soft sand.
