Today was laundry day after which we did a transfer station run. Still can't handle a trash barrel full very well, but the run was made and the trash is gone.

Sat on the back deck this afternoon and got to see 5 deer. What one sees when it isn't the season.

I tried making rhubarb and strawberry jam and it all crystallized on me. It was alright until you opened the jar and stored it in the fridge. Have you had that happen? Any extra rhubarb, I freeze for baking with later on in the year.

Nope we haven't had any strawberry rhubarb crystallize We don't have enough room in our freezer to keep rhubarb other than over the summer. Freezer space gets used for things like squash, etc... Only have the freezer in the fridge. Have tried to get a small chest freezer but the boss says not needed.

We also do rhubarb with orange and ginger. We will use it up somehow but I don't think I want to make another batch of wine. Will likely need to buy more bottles is I keep it up. As it is I have at least a year's supply of various wines. Need more brews.

Well, you can can it as well. Stew the rhubarb and then process in jars. You get more in the jars if you stew it first.

Yes we are aware of that and have all of the needed equipment, however there is just so much we can consume and the patch isn't exactly getting small.

We dug a good sized patch of ground three feet deep, filled it with a lot of good stuff, and there we have 9 clumps of 'barb, some horseradish, chives, and 5 blueberry bushes.

We do a bit of canning and there is just the two of us and whatever the kids make off with. When the boss went down to the DC area she came back with just a few of our jars the eldest son took down last fall. There are a few sitting a town over and more up near Stiney that hopefully make their way back before we get into canning in earnest. The current empty count is 159 jars.

We try to keep enough stuff in the larder so there is no need to grocery shop in the winter.

It was George's first time out to work ground, I think he liked it.

He made it over about 4 acres then the inevitable happened.....

Gotta love those good vibrations. :)
And on a side note, if you have a little one teething, the tractor may come in handy for that too

    Ummmmmmm. No.

If I was to let you it would only be after you drove it to Southwest, MO to concretegrazer, helped him with his wood, then drove it back to your house, split your wood, then brought it back to me. And of course, helped me split my wood.

Holy . . . . ! Let's see here. A hemmmm. There are now 545 members. 545 x 2 cord = 1090 cord. Yikes. An average of ... oh let's say 800 mile round trips. 800 miles x 545 members = 436,000 miles. :jaw: Let us see here. 436,000 miles divided by 10,000 miles per tire set.. = 43.6 sets of tires. UGH. Frig dat chit. We would definitely need someone with a truck big enough to put it right in the back! And then everyone needs a loader or crane of some kind er other to lift it off and on at their house. :p Who is doing the maintenance. M.M.? Better yet. Who is paying for the maintenance? Ohhh Concretegrazer!
