Ha, the oil companies weren't smart enough to see a REAL opportunity when they saw one. What they should have done is said they wouldn't deliver to anyone who didn't rent their tank from said company - or the tank had to be tested and certified every so many xxx years (because, then the company would "know" what shape the tank is in). Tanks would get more expensive to buy outright as the demand for pre-tested / certification became prevalent so the average consumer couldn't afford the up-front cost, plus the cost of certification every coupl of years. Captive customer then - kinda like the majority of propane customers.

Yeah, I know it is a whole different animal between gas and liquid, but I can just see it happening.

I haven't seen rain for a couple of weeks. We were supposed to get up to 2" from the remains of Harvey setting off the coast, but all we got were overcast days and not one drop of rain at my place. Been watering the maple trees and other greenery I planted a couple of weeks ago every other day to keep them from drying to a crisp..

Really foggy this morning. Having trouble typing as the fog is so thick - HAH! It should be a very nice day when the fog clears out. It doesn't seem possible that we are at the end of Sept already.

I just had a bacon and jalapeno jelly on toast sandwich for lunch. It was ridiculously good.

One day left (today of too hot and too humid weather) then some relief. My bathroom ceiling just got stained in about a dozen areas from sweating water pipes overhead. Went all summer without that problem It is a suspended ceiling. I'll wait until it all dries out, then repair with ceiling paint made for that issue. Need to get the pipes insulated before next summer. Might have been able to avoided that, but took the AC out a month ago because we only used it twice this year.

    Regarding the oil tanks......

Talking to others that have been in the business for years. The only problems that they have seen was the fuel company overfilling the tanks! What a mess! And then there was the company that removed the oil tank completely...but never removed the fill and vent pipes. Yup, you guessed it-that heating season, same company delivered oil right into their basement! What a mess.

Looks like I'll be replacing the fuel tank straps on my F-350. I checked them 2 years ago when I replaced the bed and they seemed fine. It would have been a breeze to change them then. It doesn't look like a big deal, but I've got a 38 gallon tank that is showing 3/4 full. I had some ratchet straps and that's what is holding it up til the fuel level drops. Only the rear let go and I was slowing to pull into saw shop to grab some 5/32 files.

While I'm waiting to see if neighbor can fix the mess I made of my quick attach on my tractor:emb:, I'm getting some other things done that don't require to much labor in this heat. It's 87 right now with humidity at 47%.

Went and got my ears lowered first thing this morning when they opened at 8. Then went and visited with Dad and Mom for a few minutes. Loaded all their trash onto my truck for a dump run and then cut all their grass with the push mower before it got too hot. Went to dump and did a few odds and ends around house. Mowed our lawn with zero turn this afternoon after I had a quick lunch with my wife.

This guy is a monster. I'm guessing he'll dress out north of 30. Goes in Friday.

For reference, the brown ones are bigger than most wild turkeys you'll find.

Make sure you check for a recall for those tank straps before you take of it yourself. Had mine done at no charge back when.....
