Long haul for sure man. But you will get through it. My wife's father went through a real tough time the last year and a half. Just before they went to do surgery to remove a cancer spot on his lung he had to have triple heart bypass because he was having a heart attack one night. Then he had to heal from that and then have the cancer surgery and chemo treatment. But he has really made a great recovery. And he is 76 years old. Amazing what the doctors/nurses can do today.

I wish the very best for you folks.

Good luck man. My thoughts and prayers for you and your family. It will be a long road but you need her as much as she needs you.

Working a long one again today. I won't have any time to work in the woods or on the yard for a while. And everything is going to be wet all the way through the weekend. Maybe next week. It won't be long before the grass will need cutting. Maybe 2 weeks, if that.

    Rant alert...

So, when we remodeled our kitchen we splurged a little and bought a new 5 burner gas cooktop. We’ve never had a gas stove but have always wanted one. We do a lot of cooking and canning from our garden and thought the 36” cooktop would be something we’d really enjoy and would make the job easier.

We’re on propane so I had to do the conversion which is basically changing the spring tension on the regulator and installing smaller orifices for the burners which are provided. Easy. After I hook it up the flame, when on low, is still high enough to hold a pot of water at a hard boil. I look over the manuals to make sure I didn’t miss anything…and I didn’t.

I call the warranty number and explain the situation…they asked if it was installed by the place I bought it. Heck no, I installed it myself. I basically got a long story about how since they couldn’t confirm I did the NG-LP conversion correctly it wouldn’t be a warranty repair but a billable service call. I was mad before…now I’m fuming.

After doing some Googling I found that there’s a separate adjustment you have to make on other (older) models that looks pretty easy to do. You pull off the knob, insert a small screwdriver into the knob stem and adjust. I pull my knobs off and there is a VERY small hole…way too small for even the smallest screwdriver and impossible to see down to confirm this mystery adjustment screw is present.

Not to be defeated, I got a 2.5” hardened trim nail, pounded the end flat on my anvil, ground the head square on the chain grinder (another use for it), and bent the top slightly in lieu of a handle. Bingo…low flame now adjusted.

This was just frustrating all the way around. You would expect an expensive cooktop to work right out of the box…If you have to adjust something, state it in the manual and include the adjustment procedure. When you call asking if there is an adjustment, tell the customer there is one. Don’t tell them they need to spend more money to get it to work.

I, to some extent, understand why they would be hesitant to do this because gas is dangerous… I blame all the stupid lawyer-happy people out there for ruining it for the rest of us…and that goes way beyond appliance repair.

Rant over…enjoy the rest of your day.

LOFL! Glad you got it to work Lukem. Trouble shooting can be a royal pain in the azz, and having to do it when you shouldn't have to just down right frustrating. It is always great when you can put your mind to work and solve a problem. I just need to increase my patience. LOFL!

Hey, it worked out. The wife thinks I'm a genius now, or at least until I do something stupid (again).

I think I might have seen some sunshine today, I can't be sure though, I haven't seen it in so long that I kind of forgot what it looks like ;)

On the slight chance that it was in fact sunshine I got out the grill and made burgers. You don't waste sunshine when it is so rare lately!!! :)

    That it does Stinny.

Today after taking care of the youngest granddaughter, in celebration of cast removal and being able to use a knife again in the right paw the boss and I went up to Brays where I partook of a sausage platter with a nice Golden Rye brew.

It was then home for a nap.

The boss wouldn't go for it, so they are in the critter recycle bin. Everything organic gets used up around here one way or another.
