Frequently trapping is allowed for crop and domestic animal protection, in some cases certain things that ordinarily would not be legal may be legal. Always consult local authorities and tell them what you are doing it for as well as asking if a certain thing is legal.

Worked outside all day tonight. Very nice weather. Cleaned up some branches in the yard. Fixed up the wife's garden a bit for her. I had pretty much wrecked it with plowing. But after a couple hours of work it is back in pretty good shape. Dam crushed stone. So anywho, I also took the carry all box off the tractor and put the heavy York rake on it. Then dragged my parking areas, along side the road, and the road back to camp. What a difference. Man does that thing save a lot of work. I will be telling my father about that tomorrow. He was the one who bought the rake years ago and taught me how to use it. He taught me many things about working with a tractor and other equipment. There is much knowledge that can not be passed down from U-tube.

So after the yard work and York raking, I put the Bobcat to work for the first time in several weeks. I moved a culvert down a bit to re-position the road and did some ditch work. This required moving the road a little. Quite a bit of digging with the backhoe and then scooping with the loader and leveling and back dragging to get it packed down so I could drive on it with the machine. Boy this thing is heavy. I had to pick the back up a couple of times with the hoe and move it over to drive out of some deep azz ruts I made. :zip:

Looks like a nice spot for a garden. What fencing are you using?

More outdoor work today. Weather looks good. A little more work on the yard, then back to working on the road down at camp. Gotta love a four day weekend!

Gonna check out renting a stump grinder today at the local hardware store. The town happened to cut all the alders/small trees along the road last year and I want to take advantage of it. Get the strip between the road and our stonewall so I can mow it. The race is on to beat the blackflies…

I was thinking something somewhat inexpensive but fairly strong and easy to install. I need to price out some various solutions, but chicken coop wire and fence posts seem like a simple solution, but I know so many critters will just burrow underneath that. But around here I also have the problem with neighbors dogs and even one neighbors horse, so I'm still not certain for fencing.

    Any suggestions?

Burrowing critters can be stopped by trenching the fence line and placing the fencing wire down into the trench as well as above it or by placing the fencing wire on the ground around a fence line at right angles to the fence (at least a 2 feet widths worth).

The wire around the fence line only needs to held in place by grass growing up through it or light staking. The critters will get disgusted with the wire.

Your problem is going to be the fact the racoons can really climb. Get a fence charger and give them some electricity for desert.

I'm made some pretty good steaks in my day, but those last night were hella good. Top 3 best steak I've ever eaten, easy. Cooked them over some apple wood.

Tried out a new manifold sealer today. Quicksteel oowee does that stuff smell bad! It sat all winter in the garage and somehow is still good lol! I put it on the exhaust manifold plug where there used to be a smog controller and now at 2:30 I can go fire it up and cure the stuff. Hopefully it works to seal the plug again. It was ticking and driving me nuts! A new motor a new exhaust and a ticking plug gotta fix that!

Not really, I was hoping to get a good idea from you. Smokey's electric fence is an idea. Use a woven wire but you'd have to have it close to the ground so that means more post. Plus the grass will drain it hard so you'd need to trim it frequently, spray, or oversize the charger to handle the load.

My great grandparents had a chicken wire fence around theirs but I was so little I don't know how well it worked.
