Saw two examples of back yard bars and grill. Either of them looked like a place to have fun.

My buddy got a real good buy on some dedicated winter tires for his truck...right around 78 each!

    Hey thewoodlands .....

A few posts ago (different thread) you teased Dennis about Judy making some cookies for him, remember?

Well, I replied that you gave me a hankering for some fresh cookies. Dropped a few very strong hints to 99 that just seemed to go over like a lead balloon so I dropped it.

Well, I visited with a HS buddy last evening and when I got home was greeted to a pan of fresh baked and still warm chocolate chip cookies! I actually thought of you two guys when they were about 1/2 gone......! [IMG]

Warm chocolate chip cookies!! mmmmmm! You can send me some!!

Mostly clear skies this morning but I got working on my course after campinspecter left to get another load of wood and the next thing I know it is too late for a walk. This load of wood might just fill the shed.

    (Also got side-tracked surfing FHC)

New pump quit Saturday night. Replaced the VERY LAST possible thing, the cord from pump to outlet. Sacraficing a $20 space heater for the cord was so worth it :) One more thing to fix, something in the kitchen faucet line. That is a project for another day!

What the heck? Was there a problem with the pump motor itself or just the cord wired in?

Unfortunately it's not an option, the water here is so dense with minerals and salts that even with softner and filtration, it still ruins pipes quickly and the softener and filter additives get $$ quickly. Though I'd love one for the yard , not in a position to spend $5K on well so I can water 3.5 months out of the year

Yesterday I did get some burning done in the outside fireplace but because it was raining I left the camera inside.

So, I educated a co-worker that I thought knew better about flat tappet pushrod motors. His motor in his Malibu ski boat( direct drive 350 GM carbureted) sounds like it wiped it's cam lobes. He always ran straight 40 weight oil, and never paid attention to zinc and oil levels in his oil. He's an engineer too, so I was shocked he didn't have this attention to detail.
His new non rollercam motor is arriving soon, so I explained why he needs to be extra cautious of what oil he uses in his new motor. 2 other engineers were not aware as well about the lack of zinc and phosphorus in most modern oils and how harmful the low zinc and oil levels it's to flat tappets. Most pushrod motors are roller cams now, and those motors can run whatever oil with no worry. I guess these people just never thought that oils could change over the years due to emissions standards. Zinc and phosphorus is bad for catalytic converters, so oil companies have have lowered the zinc and phosphorus levels to keep the converters happy. Since the only flat tappet can motors out there are old ones, those that have that type of motor have to be vigilant. Or pay $$$$.
