The closet was just the start of my problems. The spacing on the stairwell wall studs was 0, 20, 48, 66. WTF?

Finished up my overnight visit with my Dad this morning and left about 7am so I could get home and see my wife and kids before they were off to school. Another brother was heading over at 8 am to work with my Dad for the day and help him clean up and organize his garage. Great for my parents that they have so many kids living close to their home.

After a quick shower I ran up to the hospital to have an abdominal CT scan done. I have had a feeling in my lower abdominal area on the left side off and on for 6-8 months. Good thing is there has been no pain and there is no bulge. But I told my doctor I thought it would be better to be safe than sorry. So decided to have it checked out when I started feeling it again.

Hopefully it is just a muscle strain, but she said you could have a small hernia. That's what I was afraid of.

I've been trying to take it easy from the first time I felt it back in the fall and not lift anything heavy. I had to be careful because I still had the whole upper half of the barn to finish! So I was careful while we framed the rafters and purlins and put the metal roof on. But I was moving a lot of pretty good size boards. Luckily there was and has been no pain, just the feeling that made me know something wasn't right. So that feeling has come and gone many times over the last 6-8 months.

So now I wait a few days until doctor gets results from hospital.

Gasifier , the only real pain I felt with my hernia was when I felt it pop, and even that wasn't something that made me keel over.
The worst pain was AFTER the surgery.
Keepin' my fingers crossed for ya'.

Thanks. My doctor said if there is no pain and it turns out to be a small hernia they usually recommend no surgery now. Just maybe using and abdominal binder / belt. If not needed, they try to stay away from surgery/mesh. If that is an option. Because you can end up with more complications and pain from that.

I hope it will be good news or something that can be healed without surgery.

campinspecter is off to work on Mom's house, the little supervisors are staying home to guard the house and I must be off to work this morning. Did I mention it was ten weeks to summer holidays? I think I did. Can't wait as I have lots of projects to do.

On Saturday it was mid 80's and we had the AC on for a while. 2 days later and I just lit a fire because it's overcast and there's no solar gain. 60 on the main floor and 58 in the bedrooms.

My pellet stove started cycling late yesterday afternoon - it is on a thermostat and set at 67* (which means it fires up at 66*).

Having been in construction for so many years I know exactly what your talking about and feeling, it sucks. Nagging injuries and anything to do with lifting can be a struggle.

So I had the hernias on both sides done and I know I have some lower back issues. Bending over and lifting takes it's toll. I hope things come back in your favor

I've been fortunate. No pain. I dont think it's too bad. It doesn't seem like it is anyway. I'm just hoping it's a muscle strain.
