Went t the cottage for an overnight. First two pics show ice on Sat eve. the next to pics show ice on Sun morning. It is honeycombed now and will dissipate rather quickly.
Got the walls in the garage insulated this morning before someone else woke up......

Then burnt a pile of leaves! Hooray!

You can't really tell form the pics, but the ice is still out there. Probably less than a mile away.

Went for a walk with my wife today, I met the neighbors across the road and their 14 yr old lab. They've got more trees to cut down, and they don't burn wood. They know I'm a wood hoarder now. Plus they took the rounds the tree service cut earlier this year, but they are all in rounds, so no splitter either.

I told them I like running the chainsaws, and saw the black walnut trees they have and want down. I said those would be no problem at all.

We'll see, something good could happen from this.

Cooking my baby back ribs now.

It was in the low 70s and partly sunny.

Found the first tick on me of the season. Little bastard was already burrowed into my scalp. Got the wifey to pull me out with the tick tornado. I think I picked it up reaching for a split that was under some brush.

Sorry guys I have to vent a bit. 2 things; first thing I cleaned my rear window on the truck and put my FHC decal on today. I'd been waiting a few weeks for that but the weather has been horrible. Already got one compliment :D

Second, not so good news. My 10 yr old Boxer named Layla is failing, she's gone from a vibrant, energetic 10 yr old to just barely getting from place to place.
I know 10 yrs is the median age for a typical boxer but it's like someone just flicked a switch. Her 10th birthday is tomorrow, and I'm so sad.
She has Dementia and a brain tumor. We have her medicated to treat both as well as pain meds for the bad days, which seem to be outnumbering
the good as of late. I know I have seen posts from a number of members with similar stories, it's tough thats its my turn now.

My wife and my world have been turned upside down. She is treated like one of our kids and in return she gives us buckets full of unconditional love.
    Venting done (for now)
    :(

Had a busy weekend. Lots of work at the office yesterday and today.

We did go out to eat with my mother last night after work. After dinner we watched my neighbor ( 2 houses away) celebrate her husband death...yes celebrate. 30 or so people showed up, music, lawn chairs and lots of beer. Not sure if they were celebrating his memory or the insurance money, but hey, to each there own.

Went in to work, before I went to the Legion pancake breakfast today with my mother.

Helped her around her house this morning afterwards with some jobs before heading back into work

Did get a break to work on my wood equipment shed.

Built a fold up work bench out of scrap lumber.

Also put up some scrap siding where I'm going to hang chainsaw chains.

We also tilled up a big area for my bride to plant more wild flowers.

As you can see, Flicka helped. Couldn't have done it without her. :)

Yeah...maybe that came off a bit much from me, but she is one of the least nice people I know.

But then again I don't see into her heart so I better just clam up.

    No manure...yet. :)

Been there more times than I care to admit. As I age, it harder and harder for me to let them go. Last time, I waited too long, then had guilt for a long time following her passing. Listen to the vet if you have doubts about when it is time. When I loose a fur friend, it isn't long before we home a new fur friends. Never know how long that will be for either of us. I have promises that they will be cared for if I pass before they do. Prayer for you
