I have had the weight battle most of my life and yes, I do believe that diets dont work as well as changes in habits. Unfortunately I have my moms metabolism and at this point in life of 51 years I eat pretty well (not perfect) and the lbs dont want to stay off. At the same time, I am probably healthier than many people that look fitter than I do as I do get regular workouts in 2-5 times a week. I love the summer months where I have more time after work to stay outside-who on this forum doesnt.

I will say that carbs are probably my biggest downfall and its the night time hours that kill me. Seems my will power goes away after 8-9PM. It probably goes to sleep before I do

I'm still on winter vacation until this snow & ice leave, I'll take a ride in the Rhino instead.

We will put some wood in before the big rains come in, I also told my neighbor that I would help him with his wood if he needs it, he's really iced in.

One of the things I'll do today is drop some really tall skinny maples that will never be good trees for some deer food.

Reminds me of a saying my father's father told and passed along down (bypassing me… :emb:)… "All things in moderation".

I get to watch the turkeys out back while I do my yard work, not a bad way to spend a Sunday morning! (It's driving my helper crazy!) Sorry it's sideways, not sure why one is and one isn't?

Prepping the yard for a large Norway maple removal by a tree service tomorrow. I will fill the saw and stretch its' legs on some apple branches that were buried all winter.

[IMG]Break time! Yeah! Wife and daughters went to a baby shower. So break time for me and hanging with my son.

My father taught me that as well. Everything in moderation and nothing in excess. Very good guidance.

The trouble can be it is actually harder to avoid these things because sugar is in so many things. You have to put some work and effort, something that we wood burners do and have plenty of, and look at all of the things you eat.

There is sugar in things that you would generally think would be healthy. Example, most tomato and many other sauces have sugar in them. Better to make your own. Obviously soda, juices, and most drinks like ice teas that we buy are loaded with sugar. Have to look for no sugar added juices so that you are only eating the natural sugar.

gbreda. You can change your metabolism. You can change a lot of things. Take a read of the book sometime. It is very interesting. I have kept myself in pretty good shape my whole life. Read quite a bit about working out, running, cardio work outs, low impact work outs, high intensity work outs, eating habits, etc. This is different. Not just what you eat, but how you exercise, etc. etc. Our current society has done things backwards long enough. Developing pills to solve our health issue problems. Instead of looking at why a lot of those problems begin in the first place. I will digress on this issue now though. Not trying to sell you guys anything. Just wanted to share something I think is really worth looking into for everyone. Have a good one.

Done with yard work for today. My back can't take anymore! My Hubby has been smoking some ribs all morning so we are going to eat a late lunch and then try to catch some rainbow's down by the river. I am sooo ready for fishing!

Guys are working hard… We had to rent a powered broom/sweeper (rubber fins/paddles on a weed whacker) to get rid of gravel/sand every spring, at our old house. Every rental place has em usually. Towns use em a lot too for sidewalk clearing. We'd use either a plastic sled or a small piece of plywood, and "broom" loads easily onto it and then, haul/slide it away. If you've never used one, you'd be very impressed with how much they do.

Yeah, and rakes leave way too much material don't they? That power broom churns that crud all into piles fast. In fact, the problem you'll have is having a way to get the loads outa there fast enough to keep up with the broom. They work that good… especially if you can get it before the grass gets longer.

Making more progress on the clean up of branches. Just finished another hour. Caffeine and water now. Then back at it for one more hour.
