My buddy did this with an old Ford F-700 to make it into a crew cab...it was a neat looking truck when he was done. Problem was, it had a gutless Ford diesel engine and leaf spring suspension...didn't work out as well as he had hoped for a long range hauler.
Post a build thread of your project!

I have decided to commit myself to an increase in walking, AND to a walk through the woods of our property everyday now. Learning more and more about it, keeping an eye on things, and figuring out what work to do first on the trails. Today's walk was this morning. This little creek only runs in the spring or when there has been good amount of rain.

    IMG_2749.JPG
This area where I am standing needs to be cleaned out. There is a LOT of clean up work to do after the thinning out of the woods. But it will be enjoyable work. What an advantage of having the logging done. Trails through the entire property for great access! We are enjoying the property more and more everyday!:)

Grrr. Blower fan on the quadrafire is getting noisy. It's apparently on its way out, I just need it to get Thiru this heating season. I used some PB blaster on the parts I thought would help a few weeks ago. It worked, but was stinky, and it only did the trick for a couple of weeks.

I think I'll lube up the fan in the garage, and let it run there to mitigate the smell inside. I heard a lot of complaints about the smell last time. But it worked.

I need to get this done so I can get back to splitting and doing the last 20 or so cuts to the pile in my driveway.

The blower will be replaced next season, I just want to make it last this season.

Need to think of carbs like a hot wood stove. Get too close to them and you get burned. We just don't have a lot of them in the house. No bread, no rice, no candy etc. NONE! Makes it a whole lot easier if you are not being tempted by them sitting in front of you. I do eat some potato, but I am very careful with it. Chili is OK, so I have that over a baked potato. Fruits need to limited to two, maybe 3 a day. Eat meat and green veggies until you are full. Don't trim all the fat off the meat. Some natural fat is good for you and not bad for the weight. Diets shouldn't mean going hungry. Hunger leads to failure. No man or woman deserves to be hungry.

I pulled the blower off my Drolet 1400i insert stove before lighting the fire this AM. (easy blower removal, one of the perks of an insert) Took it out in the shop and gave it a good blow job  It was getting noisy, but it is smooth as butter now. I knew it needed cleaned, but I thought maybe the "bearings" needed lubed too...seems like just getting the ash dust buildup off the little squirrel cages was all it needed...probably started getting out of balance.
About the only thing I dislike about this stove is that when you open the door, any ash that falls out can and does fall down through the crack between the stove body and the blower body...there is nothing to stop it...and I haven't come up with a good potential fix either. Always have to make sure the blower is off when I open the door, otherwise POOF! A face full of dust :hair:
As far as lubing the fan, I have found that a couple drops of turbine oil will last longer than anything else I've tried. (we sleep with fans running all night every night for the white noise) That PB Blaster doesn't have very good long term lubricating quality's (which I'm sure you know) and yeah, it does stink! If I use PBB at work, my wife will make a comment about my "smell" as soon as I come in the door.
I use a bottle like this so you can get the drop of oil right down in there where it belongs without tearing everything apart...the spout extends out 6" or so.

Slow day here. Cleaned out my work tool box, I bet it's over 5 lbs lighter, then built a fire in the kicker stove and brewed a pot of coffee...hot stuff there!

    No Menards run :picard:

Errands ran. About a 1/2 cord of firewood brought in to the basement. Little break now before I bring more firewood in. Then it will be beer:30. A couple beers in the barn with the neighbor who helped so much when I built it. Then I think the wife is making meatball subs for dinner!

Yeah, PB blaster isn't that great, it's not a long lasting thing. I got the blower lubed and it's quiet now. It's what I have on hand for lube for now, but I'll have to buy something better.

It's an easy R&R on my Quadrafire 4100 too. 2 screws and it's off. There is an ash tray, for lack of a better term on mine. It keeps the ashes out of the blower, so no ash in my face when reloading.

I'll put the blower back on now.

I still want to replace the blower for next year. I'll see if I can find one with even more cfm power.

Not a lot done today around the house. Just couldn't get in the groove on the projects. Always tomorrow right?

Did get out with the dogs a couple times so my bride could get a nap in.

Split the maple I bucked last weekend.

Split nice and easy with the Fiskars.

Then I got it stacked this afternoon.

Just short of a face cord. So close...yet so far.

Bucked some smaller elm down. Finally getting at the elms I took out of my backyard a couple years ago.

Had it all stacked up off the ground in log lengths...nothing went punky.

Needed to make a run to town and get some supplies. Only get to the big city about once a month so we make a day of it. Decided to head south to Waterloo, wasn't near the snow down that way. Went to a steakhouse for a late lunch, and beings we were only a couple blocks away from Horrible Freight, stopped and grabbed a new motor to mount on the grain auger. I've heard nothing but good reports from these Predator motors, so I thought I'd give one a shot. Then stopped by Menards and got a couple of sledge and axe handles. Also saw that with the rebate my saw chains were about $7 cheaper that my normal place, got a new one of those too. Headed home and tried to clean the snow off the drive without tearing up the rock too bad. It was a real icy, crusty snow. I was able to get down into the pasture without getting stuck and haul up an ash tree that got hit by lightning last summer. I dumped it on the wood deck, maybe I'll whack it up tomorrow.
