Got a few things done around the house today... then went over to the neighbors garden and tilled it. Last week he got around to spreading the compost out... went through it twice...
    IMG_0356.JPG
    First round....

    IMG_0359.JPG
Second round.... tilled out rather nicely...

    IMG_0358.JPG
Found this in the garden too... I've tilled that place for 4 or 5 years now... all I can say is thank goodness I had set my clutch on the tiller before starting today... it did its job...

I'm giving you the #1 sign thru the computer monitor, with both hands. Can you see it? AGH, I hate you!

Okay, got that out of my system - looks like there will be a righteous garden there! It's amazing how stuff "swims" up thru the ground eventually. Unfortunately around here, it is an endless supply of granite - and not the pretty kind.

Got all my late winter pruning done on the roses & Crepe Myrtle.
Decided it was time to clear back some trees growing closer to the house so I dropped 4 Leyland Cypress and a ~30' Red Oak that's been curving out to reach the light and leaning hard over the house.
Nothing got hung up and nothing hit the house:thumbs:

I got back in the swing of things the last few days with my x27. Busted up some Chinese chestnut and beech. This guy provided me company for a long time today. I got within 20' of him and he didn't even flinch. I'm wondering if he's nursing an injury. Perched on a low hemlock limb after this picture and stayed there till I went inside. Gonna see if he's still around tomorrow.

Likely it ate some tainted meat - poisoned mouse/rat or lead shot carrion.
I had a Barred Owl show up at my house and act the same way for a couple days tried to get it in the raptor rescue network but it died several hours after I had placed it in a tote so the dogs wouldn't bother it.

Just an FYI you can't get them stuffed - even naturally dead ones, takes an act of congress;)

Ya, I will monitor it some more if it's around. I haven't even thought about stuffing it, which would be pretty cool, but I know the Feds are pretty protective of the red tail hawks. Not something I'd like to experience. Ha

I'm not a mount guy myself but after trying to nurse a completely intact owl for a couple days I thought it would be cool to have it mounted on a limb and hang in the stove room.
Every taxidermist told me they'd have inspectors in their shop the next day if they ordered owl eyes/mount.
After talking to 2-3 different people within the state departments for a permit one guy finally told me some high powered attorney was suing the state for a permit and it looked like he was going to lose.
They only allow them for museums and learning institutions in the US, you can buy them from Canada with a bunch of paperwork:makeitrain"

There might be some sort of illness going around - although you obviously aren't in the same area as I am. Last Saturday as I was going to dump ash from the pellet stoves I found a dead bird that apparently fell out of my small hydrangea tree. There wasn't a mark on him, I have feeders out so he didn't starve, and it hadn't really been bitterly cold so figured he had gotten ill. Left him there after pushing him around with my boot to see if any marks (there are a few cats in the neighborhood) and the next day he was gone. Tracks suggest the area fox found it and had a meal.

Monin hawduhs... :coffee::coffee:... major snow storm hitting here around noon going hard for 24 hrs at least. Wind driven, so drifting is gonna be impressive. 2"-4" per hour with a couple of feet possible... though that'll be hard to measure because of the wind. I'll be manning the fort with Giz and Sandy for this one. Taking Grammy down to Portland to help our daughter. She has pneumonia after just getting home from a biz trip to Europe. She's been to the doc's and is on meds but desparately needs rest. Grammy and our SIL will have to keep the boys at bay so that rest can happen. Thankfully, the roads are fine right now until a little after noon today. The adventure never stops... :BrianK:... :). If you're in the path of this nor'eastah... be safe... and try to enjoy the show.... :dex:......... it's gonna be wild... :rootintootin:

I think "panic center" might be a little justified this time. We got 6" yesterday, 20" the day before that. We are right under the "W" in blizzard warning and the 67 on the wind mapo_O, I might have to keep the littlest Hound on a leash to keep her from blowin off.

I weighed in at 207.5 this morning so my original target weight of 205 is not far off, I should be at 205 by Thursday by the latest.
