Good morning, the rain has finally stopped, temps have dropped to a hi of mid 50's with low 40's/upper 30's tonight. The greedy hungry beast has a fire in it and will likely keep a fire 'til next April, gonna' have to fire up the chainsaws.

I think they have us grouped in with the Saranac Lake NY forecast (their at a much higher elevation) I'm thinking we'll get around three inches of snow.

If we lived 8-10 miles south of here, then we would see more snow. We've had three inches of snow here and 10 miles south of us had received well over a foot, this happened a few years ago.

I don't care for any form of soliciting, exception if children are doing it for the scouts etc. We don't see any more of that now. The JWs do come. Usually polite and leave. I don't think I could handle the person pushing a door open as Pete described. I have PTSD and a big startle reflex. Odd, but my dogs and grandkids never startle me. I always seem able to sense when it is them. Love watching the kids and dogs play. It is music to me.

Chit, that's not any fun. We've had snow down here the beginning of October a couple times with the leaves still on the trees. Snap, crackle and pop! Trees down all over.

Most of the leaves are off but we might get some wind gust over 40 mph which could uproot some trees after all the rain.

Snow. Winds will increase overnight. Low 34F. Winds W at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of snow 100%. 5 to 8 inches of snow expected. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.

Yup, we are now fired up here as well, and it will probably be 24/7 burn now until April as well.

Well I know what I'm doing tomorrow for at least part of the day... my front passenger wheel bearings are shot... had a feeling that's what the squalling noise was.... almost 7 months to the day of when my drivers side went bad...

Got my truck back with the new tranny and it sounded like I got two-for-one special with a Weiand Blower installed under it.
With tranny cold it whined extremely loud, stopped by the shop and the owner was tap dancing telling me it was OK and what not - me BS:mad: He tried to tell me it was the rearend first - nixed that pretty quick, then the transfer case

They found the culprit - apparently a bad VSS that they installed in the shop on my original tranny while troubleshooting - which I had to adamantly explain was never whining before/after it went out abruptly

Had an awesome barbeque at the plant today provided by the new owners...breakfast sandwiches, pulled pork sandwiches, ribs, sausage, - all smoked overnight on Pecan and occasional hickory. This was competition grade barbeque:drool:

The guy cooking is an employee of the owners and we chatted a bit after seeing his bags of wood purchased from some local grocery/meat mart and I am sending him some muscadine vine for sampling along with a bit of my smoked jalapeno/coffee rub.:drunk:

We've had a rash of "con-tractors" making their rounds, trying to sell roof jobs. I actually talked to one the other week, they are very persistent, and full of it. The one guy was saying that due took the recent storms from April that there was hail damage, and that out insurance company would more than likely pay for a new roof.

BS, we only had tiny hail then, nothing to damage a roof. Now, a few miles away, in another city/ town, yes there was large damaging hail.

    Just not here.

    Go away.

Raining really good here now. We got teased with sprinkles yesterday, and then most of today, but after supper, it really starting coming down. So I went out to the new porch expansion to check for leaks. NONE! at least not yet! I've been insulating the ceiling. Not easy for me as it is all over my head and I have to be two steps up on the step stool. Haven't lost my balance yet. Just a couple more bats of insulation to staple in place. then the firing strips for the ceiling. Think I put up the v board on the wall before I attempt the ceiling. So far, I really like having a place that has all those windows. I need to put a light outside so I can see out at night. I want to sit and watch the blizzards.
