Yesterday we took a quick dip in the best swimming hole I've ever swam in.

Super clear blue cool water. Put Crater Lake on your bucket list if you've never been there.

    Crater Lake National Park. Oregon.

I've always wanted to go there since I was a kid but the family trips never looped that way. Finally got there.

I didn't get as much done as I was hoping but crossed off a few things on my to do list.

New rear tires on the truck at Wallyworld this morning. Three guys to put on two tires...oh well. I was pleasantly surprised that they double checked the torque on the lug nuts.

Finished installing a separate circuit and new breaker for the window air, and ran speaker wires and coaxial cable to the new TV location in the living room.

I still need a speaker panel for the back wall but the wire and box is installed.

Put up another piece of siding on my tool shed. One more piece to go, then the sliding barn door completes it.

Off to DesMoines tomorrow morning to help my daughter move. Sounds like my boys will be there to help too.:)

Thanks. Those little jobs seem to take up so much time and it doesn't seem like you have much to show for it, but a man's gotta do...what a man's gotta do. :)

I agree...... I spent all day replacing outdoor lighting, fixing a sink, putting up a ceiling fan, and repairing two toilets

I got my water pump and clutch cover/ case cover back on my motorcycle. I'm just running straight reverse osmosis water in it. The regular antifreeze I was running must have had silicates in it. Silicates in antifreeze are fine for cars, but the seals on bikes water pumps don't like it, and it shortens the lifespan of those seals. I'd think that all water cooled ATVs and side by sides are similar in design, so be careful what kind of antifreeze you guys put in your quads.

I also washed the bike, and my car after I got my new tires on the Audi on Thursday.

All good to go for a while.

Oh, I ran a new tie out line for the dogs too. IMG_20160813_211346505.jpg

True story ^ ^ ^. Don't cheap out on the antifreeze...I just buy the OEM stuff personally.
The other place where people screw up is using anything other than distilled water when mixing antifeeze...the minerals, etc, in the water will clog up the radiator and leave an insulating layer of slime on the whole system.
Obviously this is not even an issue if you buy OEM or pre-mixed (ready to use) (like most OEM motorcycle antifreeze is)

And while on the subject...never add anything to a lead acid battery, other than distilled water (unless you are filling a new (dry) battery with acid) Adding plain water to a battery that is low is better than nothing, but it will very likely decrease battery life (again, due to the minerals, etc. that are in any water other than distilled water)

Supposedly the dexcool and Honda automotive( blue) coolant had no silicates, but I looked at a few jugs of automotive antifreeze tonight, even the long life ones, and none said if they did or didn't have a silicates.

When in doubt, and you need coolant, if no coolant is a sure thing, use at least distilled water, or RO water as a better option. Just watch out for freezing temps.

I wanted to flush out all the old stuff anyway, so straight RO water for a few miles.

Yes. Distilled water is good, but reverse osmosis water is even better. There's still minerals in distilled water, but none in RO water. You could go one further and do RODI (reverse osmosis de ionized) water, but I use that only for my saltwater reef tank.

This goes for coolant systems and batteries that are not sealed or AGM too.

Yeah, that could be true on the RO water...I'm really not that familiar with that. (I'm sure you are right about RODI, but most people do not have access to that) The last factory training I had on the subject, Honda specified distilled water (of course that was in the early/mid 90s so...)
And yes, they spec bike antifreeze for bikes...not the car stuff (again, this was back then  :BrianK:)

Uh oh, craziness in northern Milwaukee while I was watching a movie at my house.

Protests, fires, police in riot gear, over a cop shooting some guy.

From what I hear, the guy that was killed by police had a lengthy criminal record.

What a mess. The whole city is on lockdown.

Making a ham/egg English muffin before I head out to help my oldest move. 3.5 hour trip in front of me, and I will be crossing my fingers the whole way, that my exwife won't be there. :)
