Don't feel too bad I stayed in school and was at work @0430 to change out a hydraulic hose in a 120deg skid - bathed in oil to boot
Can't even imagine how they got the SAE compression fittings as tight as they were - had a 2-1/4" wrench ~3' long I couldn't break them ended up cutting the hydraulic hose with a sawzall and backing the fittings&compression coupling out of the hydraulic block to get a new hose in.

How have I never heard of Salal? In all my research for native edible plants, this never came up. Maybe it doesn't do well in the Northeast so my searches never came up with it. Wild black raspberries (and reds too), blueberries and their kin are probably the most common native wild berries around here.

Another hot and sticky day here. Last night it felt like stepping into a hot shower when you walked outside.

Last night I picked gallon #5 of blackberries for the week. Going to make some jam this weekend.

For the berry growers, do you have to compete with the birds? Netting?

I don't net anything. They will eat a few blueberries, but don't seem to bother the blackberries or raspberries.

You probably don't have it over there. I think it is only native to the Pacific Northwest. here is a picture of what it looks like. When the berries are ripe, they are India ink black and can stain everything. They are not really sweet when they are ripe.

Sort of like this one. It must be nice though to enjoy a hike and not worry what the "kids" are up to and trying to keep track of them. We will see pics when you get back?

We have an old style TV (still works) so tomorrow is the last day our town recycle will take it so we brought it out of the basement and it's ready for the ride.

    We'll be getting a 40 - 43 inch TV next week.

You will be glad to be rid of it. Amazing how much space those old sets take up. I had a projection tv that I gave away.. Still had several good years left in it, but it was just too big. We really like having the tv's up on the wall. Much more enjoyable from a recliner or bed.

I'll be spending more time in the cave once we get it, the temp in the basement is 70 today which feels great.

Is your area in for any storms tonight?

Do you know what's more frustrating than hanging a door when the walls AND floor are nowhere near plumb, level, or square? I can't think of anything either.

Trying to put the finishing touches on the shelf door project, but holy crap it's tedious.

So far, just T storms north of here. But with temps in the 90's (97 F here) and the humidity of 78% things can change rapidly.
