Caffeine and breakfast in. Took a sick day today. Not feeling very well. Need to rest, and that is what I'm going to do.

I decided a while back to find someone to harvest my timber. Not enough time in the days and it will help with our access to property. A 50%, evenly spaced out thinning. With a 70 foot buffer around perimeter. It took me a while, market isn't all that great, but we both wanted to get it done. The logger is starting today. I drew up a contract based off a sample one from a NYS college, tailored it to our agreed prices and conditions, and we signed it today. :handshake:

(He got a big skidder.o_O)

Just hope he don't make a "BIG MESS" with that big skidder................Most of them generally knock down and destroy as much as they harvest. Good luck, hope it works out for you.

I forgot to look at model. I'll check it out and report back. Any of these skidders look big to me. LOL He is going to try selling as much as he an for saw timber of course, then haul as much as he can for pulp, then chip the rest. So I'm just hoping for the best!

So that is a John Deere 648G III.

    Looks like this: [IMG]

So they will be selling as much as they can for saw timber. Then as much as they can for pulp. Then will chip the rest. Hopefully things will work out well. Fingers crossed.

Yup. That is very true Rottiman.

Hopefully they will clean things up well. It is definitely going to change the appearance. No doubt. The contract has specific instructions for the harvesting behind the pond. In order to try to save the beauty of the view from the camp I am having them leave all trees for the first 30 feet behind the pond where the trees start. Then they can take 50% of the trees behind that.

Just got back from spending 7 days in the Keys sailing with my son's Boy Scout troop.

    This was my chair.

    And this was the view.

Quite the fine place to hang out. Not to lose perspective, my bed was the deck immediately behind the scuttle and cowl on the left.

We just got a little bit more rain this evening. Perfect timing, after dark, and it looks like just enough to get the grass happier again.

I have to mow tomorrow, along with clean my boat up from 5 days of use. Dog hair, and sand.

Caffeine going in. Shower time. We got some much needed rain overnight. Some downpours, some softer stuff. Should be good for the seed.
