Got some odd jobs done today. Installed 5 T's in the camp plumbing with shut off ball valves under them for easy draining of lines in the future. That sealed everything back up from last year's draining. Turned water back on and cleaned the toilet. No leaks. My son and step grandson vacuumed up all the dead flies and then vacuumed all the floors. I cut a good size chunk of grass while the boys listened to music and played checkers. Ran some errands and stopped to see a few Amish about some fence post. Almost time to fence the horse area in.

I got my oil changed in my Audi tonight. There went 8qts of Mobil 1.

I don't even want to know what a shop would charge to change the oil on my car. Plus, I wouldn't let any lackeys touch my car.

Caffeine time. If everything goes well, I'll be putting three kids to work splitting and stacking wood today. Also need to return a bunch of bottles and cans sometime, wife keeps going through the beer cans. :picard:

Summer is here and it is raining. Not that we don't need it but! First day of summer was gorgeous but rain and drizzle since then. I don't mind one or two days of rain and then a week of nice weather but this is more like November rain. does it sound like I am complaining?

We are having taco pie for dinner tonight. There is cheese and hot sauce under the lettuce and tomato.

Currently watching Great Railway Journeys of Europe on PBS. Something different.

I would like to take a nice train ride again someday. When I was about 17 or so, my parents took my younger brother and I on a train across Canada. We got on somewhere around Ottawa I guess and ended up just North of Seattle Washington. A three day train ride that was really cool. Remembering this trip, while watching this show, I think I am going to plan a trip by train in the future and take my wife and kids on the same trip. We actually looked into it a few years back and we're getting close to going. But my wife's dad was having some health issues at the time and no one wanted to go away then. Luckily, thanks to great doctors and hospitals, they were able to save his life. After triple by-pass, and then after a long recovery, a removal of some cancer on one of his lungs, he was given a new lease on life. It has been a couple of years now and in his late 70s he is doing well. I also remember what the cost of the trip was going to be. I better start a savings account just for that. It is going to take a while to save for that one!o_O

Thanks TripleF! Always good to work with the kids. I enjoy splitting and stacking wood. So much so, I may end up buying some wood in block form for next season. I have been so busy lately that I may need to.

How often do you get to work with your grandson(s)?

I washed my bike today. The weather guessers said there would only be astray shower this AM , so I rode to work. As soon as I left my hometown, it started raining. It didn't let up, all 31 remaining miles of my 32 mile commute. I was pretty much dry, but I guess my water proof boots are not so waterproof after over 10 years. There was water on my socks at the arches. The worst was fresh pea gravel on a tarred road. I'm avoiding that road until all that crap settles. I don't know what residue comes off of that gravel, but it dirtied the heck out of my bike. You could see that the dust/ residue was coming off cars even well after the repaired road was.

The great news was that the new metzeler tires are amazing.

Never seen a current Lightning map on the Net in action....
This one offers audible "strike/ (or) occurrence" clicks and it's pretty darn accurate.
    Check it out:

It's lighting up 'round here now!

No-see-ums are out in force with a vengeance!

The mustang got picked up this evening; visited with the family and we all got eaten by the bugs.

Have to finish up two AC systems today and then I think I'll be cut loose. These full weeks have sure taken a toll on my scrounging. I have managed to get only 1/2 truck load so far.
Here it is with June about over and the days getting shorter (daylight) now.
