Fun update on that weathered barnwood shed I asked you about a while back. A couple from town with an 1880's house came with a trailer today, they took alot of the weathered wood, but were even more excited about the heavy old tongue and groove flooring. it will now grace that old house!!

About 3.75 miles of walking/running completed today. Add that to my wood cutting earlier today and I be tired tonight! But before I call it a day my younger brother and I will take our wives out for dinner. I have a feeling my brother and I will also pay.

    Gas,

That bar appears to balance quite well. I had a modicum of concern about that, but am relieved to see that "all is well".

I went out today to see what I had left in various configurations of a D176, and was quite surprised by what I found. Keep in mind that two years ago, or so, I picked up 250-300 New and NOS guide bars over the course of a couple of months. Almost all have moved on.

The bottom three are technically A176 mounts(precursor to the standard D176). The nice thing about an A176 is that the stud slot can be opened up to 9mm without much fuss, a slight modification to the oiler and adjuster holes, and it can be used in a D009 application.

I just got back from a hike with my son about 3 miles at the local reservoir. This forest was planted with hemlock around the early 1900's. The woody aldegid infested the hemlocks and caused significant damage. There are a lot of trees down in the thick forest. This is what is up next for forest management.

This is looking to the right, where a winter cut was done in I believe 2014-15. I don't think we had enough snow and cold weather this past winter to let the crews in. This whole tract is on the east side if the public water supply so erosion is a concern. This open area really let's you appreciate the expanse of the area.

We try to hike the area a few times a year to explain to the kids how a forest regenerates. The cut area has healthy hardwoods and a few white pines left. Now it is a large open expanses for hawks and owls to hunt. A lot of the branches were left for habitat for small animals. It is amazing to see it regenerate from a dark hemlock forest to an open hillside with underbrush.

Other than that it was yard work this morning and I forged and welded up an extension for a gate latch for my buddy next door.

That, is a really good picture.

I took the plow off of the 6-wheeler today, so I'm committed. Any new snow, I've volunteered the wife to deal with. I just have yet to inform her of the new situation.

Yes, you are. If it is still too early here, it is for sure too early in the Mts!

Off to help out at a pancake feed this morning/afternoon.
Last couple years I did anything from cooking to cleaning to busing tables to where ever I was needed. Breaks it up that way.
Yes, we have to buy our breakfast........
