Went back to the bog to do some cutting. Cutting went well, but then I realized hauling the rounds out with the sled was going to be a lot harder than I imagined. Hauled several loads to where I will be able to pick them up with my garden tractor and cart in the spring; but, by then I was drenched in sweat and called it a day. Going to try using the sled on the level ground and the hand truck to get up the 20 feet of elevation change between the bog and my path - that can wait until tomorrow. Days like today make me think it is time to do something easier like buy rounds from a tree service or log loads! o_O

But all that work makes burning those rounds all the sweeter! :)

Oil changed, wiper blades and muffler pipe repaired on my wife's car. All ready for another 200,000 miles!

Right there with you on that....................All the years of ripping and tearing have culminated in the last 2 years of severe downturn in my ability to process firewood. I was lucky to find a source for C/S wood, delivered and dumped @ a fair price. As much as I love to play in the bush, the physical limitations now, unfortunately, make those days a memory.

I can get hardwood rounds from a local tree service for $100/load; each load being nearly 2 cord. I can easily split the wood with my SS with no need to haul it great distances and up hill, etc. At this point I'm going to get as much out of that bog as possible while it is frozen, but after that I may start buying the tree service rounds.

Same here. It's becoming more difficult to get into the woods for more than one reason. I can still process the firewood, but I'd rather let someone else go get it for me.
Finally found a guy who'll do that for a decent price, so that's what the new plan is for the most part.
Gotta' learn to roll with the punches.

Cut and split a bunch of wood today. I'm wore out. Time for beer and pizza.

Funny you should say that - been looking for another vehicle (even before the accident - for a spare and better mpg for everyday driving) and I just bought a 2007 Ford Focus ZX4 5-speed with just shy of 200k on it. It looks really good, drives good. Sure, doesn't have al that fancy stuff that seems to be in vehicles these days, but does have what I need. Just needs to pass inspection for registration, and I don't think that will be an issue (KOW). The fourms say that year has strong motor and tranny as long as I keep it oiled, so looking forward to shifting those gears for a few years (which I miss with the Explorer).

Looking to get a new/newer Explorer or maybe an Escape sometime this year ourselves.
So, you still have the Explorer? Is that what got hit?

Yeah, I still have the Explorer (only got it in November). That is what got hit and sent the other lady's car off by wrecker. I plan on keeping the SUV for hauling loads of heavy/big stuff (1/2 ton of pellets comes to mind), nasty weather driving and pulling a trailer if I should ever get one. The Focus will just be my daily driver for work.

Stepped on a large lego on Thursday, foot rolled to outside. Heard a snap and convinced my self that noise was the lego popping out from under my foot. Nope. In a sporting fashionable black velcro boot awaiting orthopedic doc next week. Full break. Let the fun begin!!

Hey Bogie, I heard something about airbags a while back. Not a bad idea to see if both your new rides are safe. Then again, I have not checked out trucks either LOL

Yeah, my ears perked right up when I heard about that recall - doesn't affect mine, but thanks for checking!
