FatBoy85 methinks perhaps you are concerned where you need not be. 80 in the winter is much different than 80 in the summer. For example, I hate it when the temperature gets up to 80 here in the summer and as it gets above that mark I'm about shot any more. Yet in the winter months I have no problem and we do keep the house 80 degrees or more all winter long and I love it. So keep this in mind.

As for the sf you are heating, I would not worry about too much heat. However, yes, you do not get the cold like most of us do so you might indeed be cracking that door to the garage a bit now and then but is this a problem? I would not think so. However, if you do crack the door open I would highly advise you use a piece of cardboard or something to block the cold air at the bottom. I'd block it to about waist height. This will stop the feeling of draft on the floor.

I figured you'd have the best answer for me, I'm pleased and again reassured. Its often the windows are more drafty than the garage and whilst the garage isn't as drafty, I would merely call it a 'wind break' as it just remains cold.
There is a drafty door in the garage that blows in air underneath, needs a bottom weather strip. The garage door itself isn't tight but I might just put some plastic up to tighten that up come end of fall.
With a few others in the house I guess this may even out a bit of those issues as I get stove running well.
    Again thanks for the reassurance!:)

My little Napolean 1100 is an approved appliance but I am sure there must be some smaller.
