On sale including tax here it'll work out to about $1.10/gal @ 32:1 or $0.70/gal @ 50:1. At that price I guess it's worth trying.

Honestly, it was a cost thing with me too.. I was leaving way too much $ at the Stihl shop for ultra, which was a fine oil, but this Lucas seems just as good.. And it's blue...
And everybody knows blue is cooler...

I was still using ultra when he was messin with it.. Finally got tired of spending $30 a month in oil, and I remember concretegrazer saying something bout O'Reilly's having it, so I picked some up. Now I spend less than $10 a month...
Unless we got a special gig going...

My father had a Dolmar and seized it using Amsoil on a 40" oak tree he was cutting when it was a bit above 80*F outside. It was the first time he had used Amsoil; it was recommended by a dealer. He never had trouble using/mixing regular 2-stroke oil at 50/1 at when it was 80*F outside.

Most of my cutting is in the winter and I am using up some Merc. Quick Silver 2 stroke oil that I can't use with my new Optimax Merc. I have gallons of it left over from my old boat. I don't recommend it to anyone, but that is what I am using in my Husky 55 for the last few years. I have cut probably 15+ cords with this and no problems thus far. Plus, if I do ruin the saw, I have been looking for a new one to replace it but it just won't die. Knock on wood! I have also been using that Quick Silver in all my other 2 stroke motors, leaf blower, grass trimmer, etc.

Is it protecting? Oil not burning off to completely? What ratio? Cause a saw runs at much higher temps than a boat motor.

I've run 7900's and 5100's in 100 + degree temps.. It's not the temp, the size of the tree, or the type of oil that seized that saw..
It was the tune of the carb + length of cut.. If tuned properly, you can get away with a lot of things, if tuned lean, there's nothing you can do to help... The outcome is sure...

I may try some of the lucas after I run though the last quart and a half of amsoil I have.

I steered clear cause it was semi synthetic and everyone says you want full syn. Many of you guys are running ported saws and way more extreme conditions than me. And seem to like it.

I tore apart Matt's 7900 that he used Lucas in and it was coated better than ultra. I don't think it's quite as good as R50 but nothing else I've used is leaving a coating of oil behind like it.

One thing I've noticed, is, there's about 1/2oz extra in a 6.4oz bottle.

It looked good on the inside. The skirts had some wear on them. I'm sure the Lucas is plenty good for any one.

No personal chainsaws, but I'm willing to bet our track crew smoked a couple Racine rail cutoff saws that second summer. Our foremen were kinda irratated...:heidi:. 5 gal steel cans with pouches of blue mix oil, but maybe when we had our dark safety glasses on...idk..
