It went on the bench this morning. Figured if it starts like a flooded saw it must be. Pressure tested the carb through the fuel line in the tank and after two pumps, the bench was a puddle of gas coming out the venturi. Meter valve not holding at all. Pressure tested a carb from a parts saw and held. Swapped carbs and it’s a runner!
Yep. Waiting on a carb and fuel line. Hopefully be able to fire it up by the weekend. It was a full tear down rebuild
I ordered a carb kit for the Jonsey and it was supposed to arrive this past Saturday the 23rd. USPS has been absolutely horrible. I had the saw all together and gave it about 3-4 pulls and it started puking fuel out of the decomp valve and muffin. When I had it tore down, I only looked at the pump diaphragm. It was spotless in there so I thought I was good. Turns out the other diaphragm had what looked like a kink in it. And I decided to clean up the original cylinder. Looks like some serious detonation. I used a Mike (T4 driller) trick to clean up the squish band. A little mini shop vac nozzle fit in the piston, then a drill bit extension into the drill. Yahtzee. Wish I would have tore down the saw before I bought the full kit. I could have gotten away with just a piston replacement. This piston fooled me pretty good through the exhaust port. I figured the cyl. was toast.
Had a couple of those lately. Even when pulling out the tiny Welch plugs, finding that good stuff under them.
This is more like what I’ve come across. Mostly wet gunk sucked up from a tank I should’ve rinsed or rinsed better. Or Homelite fuel lines that disintegrate into shards of plastic
Picked up a bucket of 162SE today. Only thing missing, so far, was a chain tensioner and clutch cover/brake. No b/c either. Pulled those from a 61 parts saw and put it together just to have look. Piston looks ok. This one might be next once I get parts and finish what’s in pieces now.
I've broke 3 ropes and a am 272 recoil on this 266xp with a 268xp cylinder and a 268 hyway popup No base gasket. I need to comp test it. I replaced the starter pawls and springs today And rebuilt the original 266 recoil with True blue I've never broken true blue I only have three tanks on it Feels very strong for a non ported saw.
My sister's 5 year old generator It only had 5 hour's on it It quit during last months ice storm. I tore it down Turns out the intake valve stem Snapped off at the collet Poor heat treatment looks like.
Got some of my favorites ready yesterday For cutting this spring all the ice storm damage. My tomcat drug in a feral kitten It's tamer now.
