She’s back together and off the bench today!! AD196EC0-44B2-49B6-A2E4-C3117A5BC412.png 2147CAFC-DA03-4AD7-BF41-10BE4D74C54B.png
Pay no attention to the bar and chain. It’s what was on it when I got it and it is NOT the right stuff for the saw!

    Currently on bench two….
CraftsmaPoulan 3400 that’s getting some experimental porting. Already ran it, but I’m trying some small changes. We shall see…. 9FAD39CE-5BF6-440D-B3F2-F5FFBD865C10.jpeg

Oh i removed the screen from the muffler and opened the deflector some. Also filed a little on the flywheel to advance timing.

Good weekend for some shop work here!
Finished some odds and ends on the XL12, buttoned up and test ran the 3.4 and got the 395 half assembled. New OEM cases and all.

Technical question for the next build….
I’ve got a pair of gray top husky 61’s in a box.
I’m going to build the nicest one as a 61.
The other one I’d like to try putting a 266 top end on. I’ve already got the intake tract, carb and cylinder for a 266. Will it work? I see open vs closed port transfers and a few bore mm difference.
    Anyone have any input?

Can I please inquire where you bought those files? The plastic case caught my eye. I was unaware that any manufacturer offered plastic cases. I thought I was pretty smart to utilize the cases that Starrett brand hacksaw blades used to come in bulk (very similar case). I have 3 of them and I need at least two more. Many websites when I look up Timber Savage files show cardboard boxes.

    Thank you

And would you look at that? Just as I post about needing cases, my recent file order shows up on my desk. lol Note shipping damage to one of the boxes. Been trying to get my stock level up as some (maybe all) of the Pferd flats are now communist produced.

Got them from a local dealer. I will give them a shout and let you know where they got them from. Might even be able to snag a few….

Appreciate it Sir. I find that the files will further resist rusting when in those plastic cases.

    Yes I've built a few 61s into 266s
But I built them from parts I never had any issues
I will say the hyway popups make for a strong 266 I'm running a couple of stock saws no base gasket and they are quite strong for stock saws.
