As well ! now contemplating on whether or not I spend the extra $ and put 10 tons in stock for next year.
Couple weeks ago we stopped to eat at a little roadside restaurant that has a Harman P-series stove heating the place. Usually they feed the stove LaCretes and have a stack of bags nearby. This time they were using Vermonts. So I flipped up the hopper lid and noticed the pellets were much lighter in color than I have ever seen Vermonts before (been burning them since 2009). Not quite blonde like LaCretes or North Country, but noticeably lighter. Didn't think too much of it. So yesterday I stopped at the local Friendly Harman Dealer to pick up a new flame guide for the P68. The FHD just happens to sell Vermonts, so I walked around the showroom and popped the hopper lid on a few of the stoves, and noticed the same thing. All of the Vermonts in the showroom stoves were much lighter than I've seen them before. Curious if anyone else has noticed this. If you haven't bought any that were made this season, probably not - but next season, folks may notice a difference.
Those are made from the late season pine. Just like maple syrup amber vs dark only backwards. True story
There is a method to my madness my stove tends to burn a little dirty on low so using a hot clean burning pellet solves that problem . Also I advocated them to carry OLYMPUS so I'm trying to do my part for sales . and this time of year I'm only going through maybe a bag a day so it's not that costly .
I think they have 1 ton left and if they get a good response from their customers will bring in more . I believe they're just selling them by the bag for now so everyone gets an opportunity to test them and justify the cost $ 7.50 a bag.
