Thanks IHP forgot they had them there which is not to far for my brother, he is in the Worcester area but been working 7 days a week for a while. Told him about the oakie plats and he was gonna try to get some yesterday but got borked by the Super (dang Supers )on the job he is working on and didn't get out of work until to late.
I am back to Bear Mountain. Managed to burn wood all weekend so no pellet burns. That's all changing right now as I just flipped the switch.
Big Heat Saw they had them at TSC and had to grab a few bags, light blonde color and good smell mostly like pine and spruce. Short pellets but fairly uniform around 1/2" only detriment so far is there are some soft pellets in the mix not real bad but would guess this might bring down the BTU output. Cranked the stove up to see what they would generate and they surprised me as they burn pretty dang hot, hotter than MWP or other blends out there all in all pretty decent pellet will see how they do on ash.
I plan on trying North Country pellets next time I make a run but was wondering do they have their own mill ? I know sometimes people will call them a sister pellet of LaCrete's.
Not sure Russell , but if your out in Central MA a dealer in Townsend has them at a decent price, really good pellet IMO. Oops just saw your on the south coast a good hike for you to travel. I believe he sells singles as well but inflated price.
Oh I can get them Fireplaces Store, MA, RI, Pellet Wood Stoves, Fireplace Inserts, Swing Sets, Sheds, Gas Grills just looking for a little more history on them . Thanks appreciate it
Wow great price Russell go for it ! Cheaper than NEWP ? Haa wish it was somewhat close to me. Good for you man Right on
The only reason I didn't pick them up this time was I had just finished 3 tons of LaCrete's and wanted to try a few other brands before I jumped back to the softwoods .
Pretty sure these are from their own mill Russell. I have never heard of them being re-bagged or having a sister brand.
Like a guy straying from his favorite brew just to see if there's something else out there he might like. You always go back to your old favorite in the end.
Ok so after about a 28 hr burn on low this is the ash build up from the Energex 60 % softwood 40 % hardwood blend .
I'm back to MWPs from TSC in the P61a. Nights are getting colder again and the wind isn't helping so Maine's Choice is not my choice at this point
I am down to two tons and 10 bags of Sets....wow, can't believe how FAST the pellets have melted away. Started with just over 5 tons in September. 50 degrees tomorrow and perfect day to pick up another ton, before there are none to be found. Will hit the Fireplace Store in Seekonk and would like more feedback on the Energex Premiums vs. North Country..... one or the other will make its way home with me tomorrow.
North country all the way, that energex is stove chow or fireside ultra in a different bag. North country blows the doors off of both of those.
I have noticed that one of the true examples of a great hot pellet is when the fire is ramping down to what I call "simmering" and the blower speed is quite low at that point, fewer pellets being augered or dropped in the burnpot. quite a few brands i burned the air coming from the dist blower vents would at that time feel cool or lukewarm. burning Ezblaze Super Premo's, the air is still blazing hot at the simmer level. the previous Okie Plats i just finished we're an example of a more cool air at that same simmer level. noticed this regardless of soft or hardwood.
