Okanagan Douglas Fir from 2015 - damm! I forgot how hot they burn and how little ash they produce. Less ash and more heat than the Olympus Douglas Fir.
There is something about staring into your hopper and seeing that beautiful golden, reddish pellet getting ready to be roasted up.
Wife had to work today and was close to HD. Stopped in and got 6 bags at $5.19 each. More options!! TSC/currans did not cut the cold. I scoped em out when I got up cause the house was still 69* at 6:30 AM. Barely moved the temp up 1* in 3 hours. I'm honestly surprised the wifey didn't wake me up( ) thinking the stove was out of pellets................. Tossed in a bag of sets and within 2 hours the shack was a toasty 73* Blackstones go in shortly, But I'm likely going to reduce the night temp setback to 70* JIC.
Blackstones are in da hopper........ Purposely let the house temp drop to 71* and now trying to raise it to 74*. We'll see how long it takes to get it to 74* Just notice the Blackstones say Super Premium on the bag. Didn't notice that before??
I got about 12 hrs. out of the sets on medium. Hence the beast. She can eat!! Setting 5 with chew through 3 bags a day.............
I just picked up another 10 this morning . Update # 3 I got a 20 hr burn out of a bag in the p43 , it's always been a bit more hungry than the Accentra as a whole a nice pellet that works for me . As always your mileage may vary .
I'm gonna toss a couple in later this afternoon and compare with the Blackstones. Very tempted to just go back to the sets until this dang skeet weather goes back north..............
You know your stove and set up better than anybody , to get the heat that you need to keep Mama happy . Me I'd give the Chows a shot , you're home to see if they will do it , not at work .
Experimenting here also with the Chows , just filled the hopper to compare heat output . Of course the color differences right away is a shocker very dark with almost a green tint .
Of the 3 Chows win on temps. SC = 256*F Average @249/ton BS = 245*F average @235/ton TSC/Currans = 232*F @249/ton No where near the sets temp though!! Sets rock at 266*F. Gonna check out what CT and BT have next week. Maybe artc too. Bought time I spent some at a mom and pops. $260 ish on something closer to the sets should work! I may grab a ton of the BS for shoulders. Our Agway is locally owned and more of a mom and pops than a BBS. Pretty close too.
