That wind never let up last night - unlike Friday night. The house got about 3* colder overnight than it did Friday night even though the low was the same (8*) and stove settings the same. Cats were all cozied up to me when I woke up and one was even under the blankets
That IS cold Will - it's 3* F here, only 4 degrees colder. Wind chill is still in the neg. digits, it's windy & frosty outside.
Hamers and some Cleanfire Pacific blend. House is plenty warm and I have coffee. Lifes good right now. Doggy
I know Skeeter complains he doesn't get any heat out of the Blazers but I dumped a bag in last night just as the Lacrete ran out. I didn't change any settings. Temp on the thermometer on the side of the stove didn't change but the fire got a little smaller and the feed time was noticeably shorter. so yeah, they're hot. With no ash. Skeeter must has gotten some bad ones.
For the last three years, Vermonts. I try different brands now and then, but the Vermonts are hot with very little ash. With bad pellets, I would have to empty and clean the burn pot daily. With the Vermonts, if the stove is on low, four days. Really cold weather, stove on 3 or 4, every other day. Love them!
Where are you finding Vermonts? I havnt seen them in a long time but I havent been checking the Hampton area lately where Home and Hearth use to have them.
Wasn't real cold this year so I used mostly MWP and Maine's Choice (those were my $99/ton from last Spring). Burned the Oakie Golds (that bogieb and I got last year) only during the colder snaps. Only burned 1/3 of what I have of those in the basement and I still have 2 more tons stored offsite in a secret location...
Nah, i would like to try them again but they are likely out of my price bracket. Maybe pick up a few bags.
Vermonts are my long standing favorites too. No matter how many other brands I try, I always go back to the Vermonts as my go-to pellet. Looking forward to spring / early buy pricing to re-load the stash with them. Welcome to the big show BTW, glad to see you here.
Home and Hearth has them. They're my pellet supplier. Pricy though at $6 a bag. I feel the price reflects the quality of the pellet and it's worth it to me due to the very low ash and superb heat.
During the winter months, Home and Hearth gets a tractor trailer load almost every week! I bought two tons this year and will be buying them by the bag when I run out. This cold snap coming up will probably exhaust my supply.
Good to know. I think at one point a few years ago, they did not have them-but I could be wrong on that. HEY, welcome aboard !!!! I see you just signed up yesterday. I remember your name from the past. I think you will really like this place.
