Yup Still not burning though. I thought for sure today would do it being cold and rainy outside. Lacrete in the hopper and when those are burned gonna try some of the Crabbe that sit in the garage.
Vermonts burned kinda weird for me and another with a Harman XXV. They were hot but left a residue behind. This was 5ish years ago though and I havnt seen them since to try again.
Don't get me wrong... I've watched every one of them since the primary debates... Tonight "may" be the first I tune out... It's just getting too ridiculous. When you have a to make a decision as to who would be the least horrible, something is way wrong... Dan
Started with the Greenways, just for the chill. Been the same pellets for as long as I have used these pellet. May-be 10 YRS. The dust and finds fall in the pot, and they go away. Burns clean, smells like oak, looks like oak," may-be oak." Still got the CHIT GUN for the Temp check between the Greens and the Sets. (Within the SAME class) Good Luck Choo Choo
Same here tt, Found them in the Danbury Lowe's. Excellent pellet. I'd gladly buy them again if I do see them.
Using up the last of the Therma-Glo's in the P61a. Those are some nasty pellets and can't wait to get rid of them. Once I've gotten past them, I will burn Inferno Golds. The P43 is currently feasting on Inferno Golds. Yes they are a bit ashy, and the ash is fairly heavy, but they put out good heat and are nearly as good as FSU and PTL's, so I'm really happy to have them at $99/ton. Once the P61 has chowed thru all those TG's, I'll be able to access the last ton or so of PTL's so will change the P43 over to those.
Those are last year's Inferno Golds, right? As far as big box goes, I really liked those and was wondering if they are the same this year.
Put some Crabbes in the hopper yesterday and ran them overnight. Here's some pics. PTL hardwood on the left, Crabbe on the right. This is the burnpot after all but maybe ~5lbs of the bag were burned. Here is a wider pic of the firebox.
Yes, they are similar in appearance and smell to some of the other Canadian softies. LaCrete, North Country, Spruce Pointe, etc. Yes I sure do. The ash is very dark and appears to be light (weight) so it does not remain in the pot. Have used other brands where after the same amount burned, the entire pot would be full of ash and you wouldn't be able to see any of the burnpot holes. Really interested to hear from G after he burns some of these too.
Growing season is over. We got a killing frost last night. I can't remember when we last went to Oct 15th before a killing frost. Warming up some now, but still cold at 41F. Fire ran on stat. I tend to leave it there. Burn is cleaner. Still working on the porch expansion. Bought some carpet for it yesterday. Need to get it insulated, then cover the inside walls and ceiling. So still a lot to do.
They will be going in next time the hopper is empty and I thought for sure it would be this weekend but a warmup is coming tomorrow so maybe not. Funny how thinking of an open pallet in the garage mid summer humidity makes me cringe but now that the colder crisp air is here it wont hurt em one bit. Those look really good TT. Had I seen this before 2 weeks ago I may have bought more than 2 ton.
IIRC North country had a darker but light in weight ash as well when I burned them a few years ago. Those did just fine for me for mid winter heating that year
6 bags in the hopper had me, in the qoogle for Taconic Range Berkshire County, hope that's in Mass, and not Washington State Mountains. Just taking the chill off in the PM and AM here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, 30 Miles west of the Atlantic Ocean. Good Luck Choo Choo
