Natural gas prices are at a 5 year low. Which means they'll soon just start flaming it off at the well head because it's not worth collecting.
It also means that future wholesale power is at a low price and it's a good time to buy.

Don't have NG in my area and LP prices are still up there.

On another note, back to filling the hoppers with TSC MWPs (it will take a couple of days to hit). Figure we are finally supposed to have morning temps above single digits, and today's afternoon temp was in the 30's (at my place), so don't need to burn the hotter Lignetic golds.

Straight up Matra's in the P68 and burning the Easy Blaze Softies in the P43
Mild weather so just burning the pellets nice and slow to see what they leave for ash and dirtiness , so far once again really impressed with the Matra's.
Keeping the shack nice and warm and dry

Ya know what? The few times I've burned these, I have been pleasantly surprised. It's mostly small bits and pieces, but they are pine and burn nicely with a super bright flame. Heat is good, and ash is very manageable. Had the 15% off coupon needing to be used and the local store just happened to have a batch of bags with the lighter colored pellets in them, so I said what the heck.

Burned the last of my 1 ton of Crabbe for this season which means all I have left is LaCrete-almost 2 ton. Sooo, trying to get in a few different brands to see what I am restocking next year.

Thinking maybe North Country or Platinum (Vanderhoof) for milder temps and giving Matra a try vs LaCrete (my current favorite of bang for the buck top shelf) for the colder temps

Stopped by McMannus today, met Henry for the first time :handshake: and picked up 10 bags of Matra. No bags avail for Platinum or NC, only full pallets right now.

Henry was great to talk with for a bit and is very accomodating. Hopefully he might break open a pallet of NC in a month or so so I can try some before buying bulk.

As he delivers for 19 bucks in April, May and June-I am hoping to have brands nailed down to take advantage then.

Pete Zahria too bad you didnt get the PM earlier as I would have liked to have met you too !

subsailor You have been buring the Vanderhoof, correct? Henry said they are good but can be very long and some dont like hearing them break in the auger. How's your Harman eating them?

Switching the P43 from MWP's to Ligie Golds for the next couple of days. Lows expected in the low teens and single digits so the little bit of extra warmth will not be amiss. Cellar dweller still chugging away on MWPs - it don't get no love :D

G I have probably 25 bags left of 2 Skids of Platinum's and have not had any problems what so ever in either of my Harman's , not sure why as the first time I tried them a couple years back they wreaked havoc on my stove. This year not a single problem perhaps they are a bit shorter then the previous ones I had tried but they are a long pellet which I like a lot and mix them with shorter pellets . The other thing is they don't funnel or bridge and for that reason if I know its going to be a long time before the stove can be tended to I load it up with straight up Platinum's

They can be a little long. I measured one the other day that was 2 inches. The P61 eats them right up. They don't make anywhere near the noise hardwood pellets make. I prefer these over Lacrete
    because the pellets are longer.

So I usually burn Vermonts but they were hit or miss this year on supply so I tried some Woods and Sons from a place in Enfield CT. The first ton of these I got sometime in Nov. and they burned fine, not as good as Vermonts but good. I've since burned another ton of Vermonts and most recently got a 1/2 ton of Woods and WOW were they crap, very loose and tons of sawdust as in the pellets were falling apart. they weren't wet or anything like that, got them from a sealed pallet so I just don't know. I'll never get them again though. Just got another ton of Vermonts and they're nice and hard, tight and no sawdust.
