- in the end, I took pity on the poor kitties and just poured the pellets into the hopper. Eh, the cats would probably clog the auger and cause more issues anyway
Downright Chilly the last few days , well for this old house when the wind is blowing so gave the stove a good cleaning and am burning Matra / Vandy mix to keep it warm. Downstairs back to burning the last of the bad batch of Vermonts and depending how cold throwing in every now and then some Easy Blaze softies. Going to dump some straight up Matra's as I broke out the sandpaper and hit the hopper good then applied some wax again , would love to burn just straight up Matra's when its gonna be cold for a few weeks and the wife is headed to FLA next week. Wife's away means more chores for me and less stove work would be nice as the Matra's burn so clean . Will see how it does as I really took some time to hit the hopper right.
I hope it works out for you... I always finish with #200 or #320 grit, and always in the direction of flow. Usually works out well. But as a disclaimer... I have not used several ton exclusively. I am getting to the stack soon, I'm still on other stuff.. and it will be all I have left. If when I go 100% Matra... I get the funneling, I will give "my" results.. Dan
Well, they have definitly hit the burn pot (Lignetics Golds). I can tell because it is black ash compared to a medium gray ash from the MWPs. More like what I remember FSU ash was like when I ran that a couple of years ago. Was sunny with little wind and temps in the high 30's, so stove hasn't run much since they hit and I'll have to wait to figure out the pellet quality.
Exactly as I have done finished with 320 grit and used some 220 to get anymore paint off. Seems to be better but have not just loaded any pine alone as its been chilly and did not want the pooch to be cold . With the Vandy mix it burns perfectly just get a little ash dam at the end which is no sweat, with the warmer weather coming should be able to test it out .
