Burning a combination of Wood's & Sons and Vandie Platinums which I am liking very much, actually one of the 2 perfect mixes I have found as of late the other being Vermonts and Vandies. Perfect mix you say Huh well the Vandies while not to bad give off some ash and are on average 1- 1 1/4" long while the Woods or Vermont's are now very short but leave very little ash . The Vandies burn very hot and even hotter with the Vermont's and or Woods and burn much longer than just straight up Vermont's or Woods . If you have both in your stash give it a go I am positive you will be very pleased.

Interested to see your review of those. I think PelletHound roasted some last season too.

Hmm I have roasted a few ton of their softwood but they did not have any mention of "Super Premium" softwood . Curious to what they look like as the one's I toasted were not to Blonde.

I'll find out tonight when I break them open . I think companies are just adding the Super word in there and hoping no one challenges them on it .

Yup,They look like my regular Energex softwood.Maybe they are super compressed or something.I still have 30 bags left over from last year.I like them.Nice and hot. They dirty my glass pretty fast though but fairly low ash.

Hey guys I’m looking into some softwoods. I can get easyblaze super premium for $350, mantra for $325 or northern warmth super Douglas fir for $400 which one heat wise and money wise?

EZBLZ is pretty close to douglas firs as far as blazing heat goes..... little pricey though.
around here it's under 300.00.....been burning them for past few years now....
the firs have less ash by far...

Those prices are downright awful. Really puts a damper on any joy a person might have from burning pellets when they cost that much. You may have a slightly better experience with them than whatever your other lower price options are, but none are worth that kind of money. Afraid if you buy any of them you will ultimately wish you hadn’t spent that much money on them in the end.

Do you have any places around you that do early buy sales in the spring? To give you an idea, Matras were $265 - $275 around here in the spring. Now they are $300 - $315. So realize that ship sailed for this season but maybe in the spring, plan for early buy for next season?

I would be willing to live with HD Stove Chow , Fireside Ultra or Green Supreme from Lowes if you have those options .

Well 7 hours in with the Energex Softwoods and very satisfied with this pellet. Temps on low from the vents 330 degrees , on med. 450 degrees from vents. Glass is still clean as is the burn pot and at $6.25 a bag $ 309 a ton not a bad deal . The pellet has a nice sheen and almost no fines with low ash .
