Hey, look the guy might be asking what some believe to be an extreme price, however that is his price and that is the end of it. How many of you gave your wife a diamond engagement ring, did you feel pressured into it, did you know the that whole deal with diamonds for engagement rings was created by DuBiers, prior to them interfereing the standard engagement ring was pearls.

They were $3000 when I first saw them. I was hoping he was asking $1500 for the "ultra rare" flat-top 066 and a little less for the two Solos. I agree he can ask whatever he wants.... I just think he's going to have a hard time selling them at that price.

I agree, however a huge marketplace (eBay) by nature will support huge prices along with huge fees. Someone will eventually pay the price he is asking, just takes the right person to come along. I suspect he raised the price from 3000 to 3300 when he found out what the eBay fees were on 3K.

Sure, but the seller has to ask himself, "Will I still be alive when it happens?"

There are some pretty rabid collectors out there, that if it is what they have sought after for years they WILL spend whatever it takes. To be able to get a NIB Solo 110cc Twin for $500 would be nice but it is not going to happen. In this guy's case, he's already messed up, should never have taken it out of the box! Just like Steven never took his 665 out of the box. New in sealed factory box adds $.

You hit it on the head. They aren't still sealed NIB for a collector.

On the other hand, an overpriced eBay listing is a very cheap lottery ticket.

I ordered a new Solo 681 last February from Germany for a customer, was $1135 without tax and duty! When it got here the box had been opened and resealed by US Customs, so said a sticker on the box. Saw was fine but for a collector it would have been a bust. OBTW, Al-Ko (Austria) bought the OPE division of Solo and the rights to the brand name and world wide distribution rights but according to my contact at Solo, has not decided if they will resume import to the USA.

Also dealers sometimes will not sell a saw new in sealed box because of liabilities, and agreements with the manufacturers.
