I do the same, along with all of my vegetable trimmings from the year. I canned 7 quarts and froze 3 this year.

Just finished a bowl of sweet chili (added brown sugar) that I made up this evening. Better quite at one bowl unless I want to be nursing heartburn tonight! But its a good heartburn.

Made 2 loaves of honey white today. Similar but not quite your recipe, it was all milk, other than that it was pretty close in ingredients and proportions. My daughter said it was better than last weeks go at white bread. And it probably should be with a dose of honey in it to sweeten it up.

I was really surprised at the taste of the honey. I wouldn't really call it sweetness, but the honey is definitely there.

Still haven't found my pans. When I do, I'll show you a pic. They are long and narrow, don't have dimensions but they aren't 9x5. Really old, actually have some pinholes in them.

Ice/snow storm today. Since I am stuck inside I want to try smoking brisket in my crockpot.

I'm not usually a fan of that but if you decide to do it post up some pics and let us know how it turns out.

Right where I want to be.
I'm curious how this would be accomplished.

    I bombed but lessons learned.

First, loaded up the crockpot. Placed the brisket on the rack. Cooked on low for about 5 hours.

The result, I over cooked it:

There was too much juice. The brisket was basically steam baked. The meat is still super tender but not what I wanted. I also made the mistake of putting on the rub the night before according to the recipe. Won't do that again.

Thanks for the link! Made a loaf this afternoon. Mixed and kneaded by hand. Not pretty looking but not bad for my first loaf in about 15 years. Regardless of the look, the wife and kids gave it two thumbs up :)

I usually do the rub the night before and it works fine on the Kamado. It still looks juicy but you are right that it basically steams the meat and it can be hard to control the internal temps that way. I bet it still made some fine sandwiches!

I got a craving for pizza today so I decided to make one. Here it is in the oven beginning to cook. [Ignore the state of my oven. You wouldn't know that it is self-cleaning]
Sauce, smoked turkey, pineapple, orange pepper, onion, mushrooms, tomato and TexMex shredded cheese. The second pizza got sauce and put in the freezer for next time.

Out of the oven and ready to eat.

    100_2606.JPG

Dessert was carrot and raisin cake with cream cheese icing.

Nothing left of the pizza but still more cake to be eaten.

Yes, it was good and didn't last long out of the oven.

Smoked 2 racks of ribs this weekend.

Dry rub followed 3.5 hours on the smoker with hickory. Homemade BBQ sauce glaze during last 10 minutes. First time ever doing ribs on the smoker and I'm very happy with how they turned out! Wish I would have took a pic of the smoke ring. Maybe when I get the leftovers out.

Thanks and yes! I smoked two turkey breast cutlets and they came out perfect! REAL smoked turkey breast...was awesome on sandwiches. I apologize for lack of pics but most of my smoking is done after dark this time of year. I'll tell you what, I can honestly say that was the first time I've smelled applewood burn before. The smoke was very singular to me, almost tart smelling like a green apple. Definite difference from the hickory and cherry I have been used to. Went very nice with the turkey. Next time I smoke with the apple during daylight hours I'll definitely grab some pics!
