You got it. I took the family to Watertown and we had lunch at Texas Roadhouse. Then my wife picked up a few things at Michaels and we all went to SAMs Club. Grabbed some stuff there, and then took the kids to see the Disney movie Bears. Good day.
Big shocker on my end, but doing a 4lb bone in picnic roast on the smoker tomorrow. Going for an 11 hour cook this time
I put 20lbs of pork butt on the smoker at midnight last night and man is it smelling good right now! Should be coming off around 1pm today and my mom will be over around 3 for dinner.
Fresh clam sauce on linguini. I can't wait till August when we have a rental house in RI. I can go clamming every day for 2 weeks. Sauce is cooking Plated The store didn't have any fresh basil and I don't have harvestable quantities in my garden yet
I thought you needed a month with a R in it to harvest shellfish. That is what local lore around here says. So May, June, July and August are out.
They say the same about animals having worms this time of year, usually rabbits. The R is for rabbit.
Smoked some ribs last weekend. They were just O.K. but I am my worst critic. Today is a desk jockey day for me so I am in my home office. Since I am going to be home I thought I would put on some pork tenderloin.
Just took them off the grill. If you can make it within 48 hrs. there should still be leftovers. They might be better if I soaked them in a marinade but I used a dry rub which didn't turn out too bad.
I've got a wicked BBQ chicken pizza craving. Might have to get a fix this weekend. Brine some chicken thighs for a couple hours and cook them on the pit. Home-made BBQ sauce (probably Asian style). Home-made pizza crust grilled on the pit. Carmelized onions, couple kinds of cheese...probably mozz and cream cheese. Broil it in the oven to make everything melty and sticky.
I tried cabbage on the grill the other night(sorry no pics - too dark/too many beers) Quartered a head of cabbage and laid on foil and drizzled some bacon grease from the few pieces the GF fried for her dressed up beans, couple thin pads of butter on each quarter S&P wrapped tight and indirect heat for ~1hr(I think)....Excellent side dish to compliment the wood grilled pork chops. If the rain holds off today I will be wood grilling a small pork loin - going to try some muscadine vine for smoke flavor
I didn't cook it but someone made me grilled asparagus, mushroom caps with feta cheese, and chicken. Mmmmmmm.
