I'm at the point where I am having a hard time justifying my time to scrounge. I figure it takes me about 4.5-6 hours per cord with travel, bucking, splitting some, and loading included. I can get 3-4 cord loads of log length delivered for about $100 a cord. If I can take the travel and loading and unloading out of the equation, it will save me a ton of time. Never mind how much time I would spend surfing CL for the opportunities! If I can scrounge a little locally, and supplement that with purchased wood for a few hundred a year, thats a win.
Absolutely, need to take that all into consideration and sounds like you got a good plan for yourself. Its alot of time and work scrounging. I'd like to get ahead on the 3 year plan, then I wouldn't feel the pressure so much of having to keep up. Right now everytime I see an opportunity I am torn, part of me wants to drop everything and seize the score, but other part of me called life gets in the way. If am ahead hopefully I won't feel as pressured and I can pick and choose scrounging based on my terms and time.
