That’s funny you say that cause I’ve always noticed that too, same with the sound.

I distinctly remember racing to the front yard when I heard a tractor approaching. I usually had it identified long before it came into view as we had a nice long hill climb before you got to our driveway and it made most of those old motors holler real loud!

What was just as thrilling driving my 1st tractor was the last true farm tractor I drove....it was a Steiger. A very good friend of mine during high school needed some help on there 3000 acre dairy farm so he asked me..never forget...thought I was king chit!

First tractor I was behind the wheel of was a Farmall M It was the middle of the winter and very cold. I may have been in 4th grade at the time and I was with an 8th grade guy. He had loaded up the manure spreader but by the time we got to the field the load was partially frozen and he had to throw it out by hand. As the tractor was going across the field, he got off the tractor and stepped across the drawbar to the spreader and he said, here, you drive. Foot of snow on the ground as well. All I had to do was steer but it scared the chit out of me at the time. Good memories

Massey Ferguson with a front loader....I think it was a 35. Then several JD's from there. Didn't grow up on a farm but worked on 2 different ones.

It was either a Ford 8N or a John Deere 310 back hoe.

I don't think I drove it, but our first tractor was an Oliver 60 on steel. Next was a Cockshutt 30 that I ran until it was completely worn out. Then there was the test drive on my buddy's brand new Big Bud 600-50.

Ford 2000, round style. Dad had just passed away & I was a 5y/o kid that had to learn to drive the tractor so mom could feed hay off the back. Upgraded to a Ford 3000 square style not long after ran that too, then mom died so moved to MI. Worked on farms here till after High School & ran some of everything. Run my old M with a trip bucket farmhand loader from the '40s now.

Ford 2n with a trip bucket, and usually a brush hog on back. While we don't own it anymore, it still gets to the hunting land to mow trails. My parents sold it to a neighbor up north. It was my grandpa's.

Nope I just commented on a post somewhere about the first tractor I drove and Backwoods Savage thought it’d be interesting to hear everyone’s first. Really brings up some neat stories and pictures as you can see.
