I agree I always cut my stumps as close to ground as possible That is where the better wood is generally. These guys are not cutting for firewood, just go in and cut trees at random and just leave them where they land! They will burn some this summer when they are camping with the kids. I think he got scared and stopped cutting or the fact that he ruined two chainsaws and can't afford to cut anymore?? At any rate the neighbor knows how I feel and I will sleep better when they are on the ground and I know no one will be hurt by those trees anyway. I did recommend that the brother look into a Chainsaw safety course.
Our town crew does the angle cut too they think it ensures the direction tree will fall... I talked to road commissioner he put end to that! I know why I leave some stumps taller easier to pull out with thumb on excavator
I was lookin at a saw manual yesterday and realized , they all have info on felling , if he ever read a saw manual he might know better
Around here lot of guys cut trees down like that. They've never heard of a notch then back cut. However, just don't cut like this guy did
I can't like this! Unbelievable! You can almost see the dudes guardian angle push him out of the way. Great example of just how fast bad stuff happens with trees.
so if at first you don't succeed do it wrong again.. well he may not be smart enough to know how lucky he is
All I can say is I am glad I had people around that taught me how to notch and back cut. Even then things can go wrong . I do hope that the neighbor and his brother do take my advise and learn the proper way to cut trees.

I did not think it was possible to barber chair the same tree twice. This moron sure proved me wrong. Then when he starts on a second tree I could not believe my eyes.
