I bought a Huskee 22 ton with log catcher (labor day special).

Also have a stickler screw type splitter mounted on a post hole digger

and an old Task Force 5 ton electric

    P12-30-11_11.12[1].jpg

I sold my Yanmar 3 point splitter and a new Speeco 5 ton electric splitter to help pay for the Huskee 22 ton.
Now I just need to get busy and cut some wood. :)

Actually, the 6 way sucks... Unless you got really good straight rounds...
The 4 way is the best for normal rounds...
Big single for most of the garbage I get around here... I sure wish I had a decent supply of red oak...

SuperSplit.. Had one for 25 years , sold it to buy a splitter that did 30 inch long splits.. Moved didn't need the long splits anymore, sold that splitter and bought another SuperSplit.. Hands down for me fast and efficient, I can even wheel it around by hand. I can split 2 racks on one tank of fuel and still have fuel left... Most of the time half throttle is fine...

This super split looks sweet, but how does she handle knots and crouch wood ?

Not bad, you just have to split the knots and crotches in the right direction. Bottom of the tree always faces the the wedge. I wouldn't have bought another one after 25 years if I wasn't impressed with the production... The machine is always waiting for you.. so as fast as you can load the splitting area, it's ready to split.. no hydraulics and trouble free.. Electric motor can be used as well so you could split inside a building if need be when it's raining, etc.

When I stack I make sure the wood stays level or is leaning slightly back towards the next rack behind it just in case.. I only lost one rack after I stacked it a few years back... Wood tip out forward.. That was my lesson to stack neat... Each rack holds about 3/4 cord.. Right now garage is almost full , shy two rack.. That will give me 18 racks..

I got to try out Don's super split at a GTG, and I furnished him with some 16-18" rounds of elm and hedge.. They had knots in them, and the SS made quick work of em anyway...
I may have to get one to set up in the barn...

I'd entertain a SuperSplit if I could get away from cutting 30"+ monsters with knots, and twisted double trunks....

I have to tell ya guys AC and I recently saw one of those tsc versions in action it's really cool. For more than one guy its deadly however! They had three guys running one and none of them where paying attention well at all every time it jammed the whole thing would buckle and jolt a couple feet and in some cases launch the round into outer space. That thing scared the crap out of me and that takes some doing usually. :emb: Ok my point is they are made for one guy and if it's one guy they are very safe due to the fact that it takes two hands to operate. If there is more than two it's just plain dangerous.

That makes sense I can see how it would cause problems after watching the video a couple more times.
