The filter on my splitter is on the suction side, so it will run dry a few seconds. It's supposedly harder on the pump as well. Thanks for the welcome, I'll be around here a bit more as I've been bitten by the firewood dug again. I have a small forest of dead Ash trees to process this year. EAB has been devastating.
That could be really bad if the pump sucked the gasket in! It would really starve the pump or give you air in the lines!
We can merge them for you if you'd like. See Grizzly Adam for details. Also, welcome! Good to see you around FHC!
I agree. Unfortunately some of the trees I've lost are around 100 yo and massive. Which isn't a problem for me to take care of, it's just a shame to loose such nice and otherwise health trees.
It seems to be built pretty well. The local Stihl dealer sells this model for $2699. I was able to snag this one for a $2000 discount. Couldn't pass it up. I only use it for the tough stuff right now, but I'm not getting any younger!
Prolly the only good deal I have ever scored from Craigslist. CL usually turns out to be a giant disappointment for me.
The front support "leg" has always been a pita on my Huskee, the wheel jack looks like it would work much better!
Works good , you can level out the splitter, or help get the foot flat on the ground when vertical . Don't cost much about 20 bucks with coupon 1000 Lb. Swing-Back Trailer Jack
Went into the shop looking for something to hold the handle up , saw the carabiners in a box said yeah ! this will work good , stays hooked on when not in use
Started out with this for $100 or $125, don't remember exactly. Then turned it into this to suit my needs a little better. Then added a new engine, pump, and tank. Pump is either 11 or 13 GPM. Don't remember that exactly either. CRS is taking over. New pump doubled the ram speed and is 2 stage.
