Like Erik said there are different ones for each chain size. I have the .325 and the 3/8LP files. Bring saw with you if you aren’t sure. Sounds like you need the 3/8 non LP. It’s marked right on the package what chain it fits.

As I understand it, the files in the 2 in 1 can be changed out when worn, but you can't change to a different size file.

I'll just take a picture of it, that should clear it up

That is the case. The measurements are different for each size chain. I had to buy one for each size I have. Changing the files out is very easy and takes seconds. Mine have payed for themselves many times over.

It looks like the regular 3/8 2 in 1 would work for you. Our local ACE hardware is carrying them and you should be able to get one from a Stihl dealer as well. I have found after you sharpen a chain 7 times, you are money ahead from taking it in for someone else to sharpen it for you.

Thank you Erik B that's what I thought it was but I would rather ask the experts and be right than not ask and ruin my chains. Looks like this new dog is going to learn the old tricks

My local Stihl dealer wants $15/chain to sharpen...made my decision pretty easy. I am sure I could get them done cheaper but I didn’t bother looking as I bought the 2 in 1. I am in Canada so an RS chains costs me about $30 to buy new.

Hammy I think they charge around 5 to 7 per chain to get it sharpened around here and the 2 in 1 costs around 35 so as you said it was an easy decision to get one, or in my case, 2 of them.

I like the Husqvarna roller guides. They have always given me great results. I have a harbor freight grinder that I really don't care for, but maybe I need to spend more time with it. IMG_20180805_201631.jpg IMG_20180805_201631.jpg

These and the 2 in 1 from Pferd are both excellent. I have both. The 2 in 1 is better because it gets the depth gauges while sharpening the tooth.

I have never used the pferd 2 in 1, it must be good because lots of FHC seems to like it. Maybe I' will buy one next time I'm at the saw shop.

Picked up the Stihl version today, touched up an already pretty sharp chain, and it seemed to cut a little better, wellw see what happens after a good bit of use .Thanks again everyone! Bonus picture of the wood splitter in action with newly welded on log lift!
