I would use this "double over & through running left handed cluster f**k knot". Sorry, it's impossible to teach over the interweb.

I used those all the time growing up! Work great! (usually only once, though)

I have one of these in my inventory so I can pull with my truck (or other appropriate pulling device) in a safe direction while pulling the tree to where I want it to go. Use a 30' tow strap at the anchor point which allows me to vary the length depending on the number of wraps I take around the tree that I use as the anchor. May or may not help in your situation.

As always if you don’t know the knot tie a lot!
    Hahaha

I’d second everyone’s use of the bowline :yes:and also some of the old timers that were retiring when I was starting out always said “six inch tail kid or your buying the beer tonight when that knot rolls out!!”
Barcroftb I believe someone whipped up one of those running knots at Mr. Curry’s place this summer  :D

You did a durn decent job of it too. I even had my spurs on right that time too!:D

In case anybody hasnt realized it yet the bowline is a pretty important knot for tree work!:binoculars:

I keep a bowling tied on one end of my bull rope all the time. Sometimes it is hard to get the knot over the branch so I use the end without a knot and tie a cinch knot to tie the throw rope to the bull rope. I find this goes over the branch easier

One thing to add... if your concerned about not getting the limb down by chance and getting the rope stuck in the tree tie the throwline into the pull rope bowline then if the limb doesn’t come out and you want your rope back you just pull the throwline opening up the choke and bringing the end of your rope back. If that makes any sense :loco:

The "knot of many names"! We call that the improved hatchet knot.  It doesn't matter what you tied with it, you're going to need a hatchet to get the rope off.

It looks like it has a good lean to it. I would probably just fall it the way it leans. As long as you have a good escape path and can run !
There's a line in a song by Craig and Terry, " like when to take your time , and when to cut and Run.

From the pics, it looks like the main trunk has some conks on it , and a couple cat's faces.
