What is up with this little newborn mosquitoes attacking me in August

    They have to eat too....
    I sat by the firepit last night, those buggers attacked my ankles
    and back of my head. The only uncovered spots

    surprisingly we have had a lot of rain this summer compared to most and
    despite that the mosquitos have not been that bad (knocking on wood)
    this year.

    Mosquitoes here are terrible not the big giant ones like they got down in Florida but there's a lot of them. They don't wait till dust to come out either they're out there in the middle of the day

    Lots of rain &/or wet ground , lots of larva hatch.

    Alaska has both & we have several species & lots of each.

    From the big eagles ; noisy , slow , dumb & take about a pint to fill up
    to the really small stealth ones , quiet, fast & biting on landing
    & gone with a full load before you swat. LOL :)
