What is the advantage(s) of the 562xp over a 25 year old 371xp?

Therin lies the CAD rub. A ported 562XP is probably quite able to keep up with my MS441(or a 371 for that matter), but the 441 is only a port job away from smacking the 562 back into the cardboard box from whence it came. The only real solution is to buy as many saws as you can and port them all.

Don't tempt me..... I was already wondering what a 460 with a woods port job would run like.... Just for the record its not gonna happen but it's an interesting thought lol

You'd be amazed how much I value paid for:D My buddy and I typically run our landing with a 95 from the bottom of the trees and a 71 from the top after a 50 left what should be left in the woods. We have the same saw setup except his 71 is red and mine is orange, over 100 years among them with the newest being a decade old. Thanks for all the feedback on this...more curious about the new stuff than anything.

Solar, get togethers happen from time to time around here. Great way to get to play with ported, vintage, and new saws. If you haven't seen already, we're doing an "official" FHC G2G in May at Swags' place. At the rate DexterDay and I are going, there will plenty of new Stihls to play with and there has been talk of a dealer being present, perhaps with demos.

I'd love to go but unfortunately I'm already booked for a trade show. And no, not one that includes two strokes or diesels.

If you get these guys to show up, I might be inclined to blow off the trade show;) There is a shop here that started renting one and I'm tempted to try it out. If logs turned into splits in my trailer without me touching them, I'd be back fully stocked in no time.

I'll have a decade old 372 there that was woods ported by Mastermind. It's a mean SOB. Trade shows are overrated.

No argument there, multiple 18 hour days when you have to be on the whole time suck but no one sells what my team does better than me. Is there any point in porting old saws?

Power to weight ratio gets better. But you want to make sure the rest of the saw is in good shape. Like piston good and your bearings and seals good. Mastermind will totally disassemble andrelace seals for what looks to be a fair price to me if he is already porting your saw.

yep and he's the type of guy that wouldn't port a saw that came to him with issues without letting the customer know and fixing the issues first.

To a certain age, yes. Would I port something like an old Stihl 031/056 ? No. Because it would still be a heavy SOB with sub-par AV when you got done. But "old" saws like an 034, 036, 044/046, 066 or a 254XP, 262XP, 272XP, 371/2XP are a "hell yes" so long as the cost of doing so is acceptable to you the customer.

Not sure but I don't really notice the vibration issue on any of the saws.

A ported 460 done right will be as fast as 90cc saws running a 28" bar. The 2095 isn't that old. The have good av and are usually stronger than a 660 or 395. Port work only makes it better.
