    My in-laws have a central vac in their house...think it's at least the second one they have put in when building new house (he was a builder, so they seemed to move every so many years, and about half the time to a new custom built home...benefits of being a builder)

    Way back in my pet sitting days (1990's), I had a client that did have the ducted vacuum ports in each room. I don't know how well they work, or if any aspects of them are a PITA. The final collection point is in the basement (or wherever the rest of the house's utilities are congregated). I would think that is another thing you would hire someone to clean the ducts for on a yearly or bi-yearly basis. Kind of thinking that it would cause extra concern for spreading fire, or would be regulated to ensure that the system has fire inhibiting functions.

    They aren't a big thing around here, and I would assume that only those that have extra money to spend while designing / building their house even think to put one in. Also, might depend on climate - more humid regions (like mine), there is more chance of mold growing in the ducting as opposed to dry/arid places like out west (or Australia).

    You guys are killing me;
    It’s called Central Vac
    It is not that expensive probably 4k nowadays
    You can DIY not hard at all
    Biggest benefit is to those with allergies as regardless of vacuum where collecting point is dust particles.
    Here like to end them in attached garages

    Central vac uses a 1.5" pipe, in wall not a duct...never heard tale of it plugging up, or needing anything special.

    We have two cordless V15 Dysons. One upstairs and one downstairs. They work very well especially on pet hair.

    Maiden voyage on the bagged Kenmore upright. 100% better!! Won't do a bagless vac again, and still have the Henry (like an indoor quiet shop vac hybrid). Seems WWW and I are used to uprights, and being able to pull the hose out while moving through the room for wall edges etc. Kiddo walked out after WWW did the area rug infront of the couch and said "why is the carpet so vibrant now!?!". The Henry sucked up what it could but we still need a rotor/beater brush in these conditions.

    Doggie came in with a flat tire again today (dried mud clump on one of her paws that clunks as she walked), sure enough, crumbled dirt on the area rug :rofl: :lol:.
