Someone in the area where I used to work found a tool box full of tools a few years back....mine! Slid off the back of the truck. My fault, my loss. Around $1400 worth. Had to eat that one. :headbang:

There have been many through the years and far too many to mention here. Some big, some small. Of course one of the small ones is that we many times find change just laying on a sidewalk or pavement. And this brings to mind one time at the Mackinaw Bridge. It was very windy and a fellow in a semi was paying his toll and when he got change back, dollar bills went flying in the breeze. My wife ran out and grabbed a bunch thinking the guy would be coming after them but he didn't. She pocketed it and so did a youngster that also came running.

One that I am very proud of was one time I took a Dale Carnegie Sales Course. I don't remember everything probably but can say that I won every award except one during that class. The big one was Champion and he who won that also had his course paid for. I was proud to win that for sure.

Observant folks might notice on the plaque on the left it is not my name but my wife's. It was funny and everyone loved it. She was not taking the course but because I had to travel for it she went along. They said it was fine and thought she'd come to maybe 2 or 3 classes but she attended every one of them. Maybe that is why I won?! Anyway, at the awards banquet, she was presented with a persevering wife award! That is something that was never given but they did it special for her and I'm glad they did.

I remember winning a pen, letter opener, 2 other plaques and then my mind blanks out on this one.

Many times people wonder about the lottery and what if they win it? I've said for many years that some day I'll probably win. However, Michigan has had a lottery now for over 40 years and I have yet to buy a ticket. But, we did win some money in the lottery. It seems one time they had some promotion and we received 2 tickets in the mail. We didn't know what to do so asked when we went for groceries. They told us and on one there was 2 ways of winning. I let my wife choose. Had she chose the other way, we'd have come away with around $500. But as it ended up, we won $85 total. So we can say we won some of the lottery.

One time we bought a new tv from Montgomery Ward (that's going back a long ways!). Something happened and we took it back for repair. The day after we took it back there was a big fire. Yes, our tv melted. They sent us a card stating we could come to the store and pick out a new one.

We found a nice camera in Zion N.P. Both my wife and I have won numerous archery trophies. The funny one though was that we joined a league one summer. Rather than trophies, the club had a lot of merchandise and that was going to be given away at the end. However, it was all luck. You did get more tickets depending upon scores but it still was luck. I ended up being the top archer in the league.

Now is where it get funny. They started drawing names. Me, the top archer, won a hat. Wow. My wife though, won a tree stand! Well, she was not in attendance that night so when I got home I gave her the hat she had won... Well, it was worth a try.

One time a company sold some computer games and had a contest. I won second place! A new store opened in town and my wife won a complete set of nice dishes.

Many know I ride bike a lot. One time I was going into a small town and had to cross the railroad tracks. Wait! What did I just see laying by the track? It was a brand new 30' measuring tape and I still have that. But even better was about 4 miles from home. It was near the last day of school so lots of kids were riding around. Suddenly I spotted a cooler in the ditch. Ice has spilled from it. I stopped and found there was a full case of beer in there! Cold beer! I hid it as best I could then went back with the car to get it. Shoot, at .10 refund per bottle plus a refund on the case, that was nice....and the beer went down very nice too.

I won a chainsaw one time. I also won a trip to Las Vegas. All expense paid plus $400 spending money for my wife and I. In the end, they could hardly believe it but it was through work and I asked instead for 3 days off with pay so that our whole family could be involved and we spent a great 3 days camping. Actually 5 days because of the weekend.

There are lots more but that is enough for now. I don't want to bore people.

Once when I was pulling up in front of the library I saw a 10 dollar bill. Open the door to reach down and grab it and it was gone! I got out of the car and looked all over and still couldn't find. Then it dawned on me, got back in the car and pulled forward a foot and sure enough it had been under the front tire!

I also found a $100 bill. It was on the floor beside my booth at a restaurant. I picked it up and sat it on the edge of our table. A minute later, a waitress came through frantically looking for something. I motioned her over to my table. What a sigh of relief from her. Too bad she wasn't the one assigned as our server.

Many years ago, I found a plant like that growing in among some plants in a garden ouside and under my son's bedroom window. Fastest growing "weed" I had seen. Son just grinned when I mentioned it to him. :headbang:

And on the subject of the two previous posts: Years ago I worked for UPS. I started in the summer. Come fall I needed a jacket so the manager gave me one. 10 minutes later while at the morning pre-dispatch meeting I put my hands in the jacket pockets. There was a plastic bag in one. After some real quick thinking I decided it wasn't the best place to pull it out to see what was inside the bag.

Few years back me and the Mrs went to a casino on new years eve and i was playing a pricey slot machine and when she came over to see how i was doing i said to her to sit down and keep hitting max as i had to go have a squirt. Came back out and the lights were flashing and a bunch of people standing around MY machine. Well she started hitting the minimum bet as she was down a bunch and hit 3 somethings on the game. SHE won $3500 and i 'won' $100 from her. :hair::D Will never know what it woulda been if she kept hitting max? ;)

She won tickets to a baseball game, while at the game they drew her ticket number on the car giveaway.
