I sell used electrical equipment. Mostly steel frame air breakers, some vacuum, some insulated case, and the associated switchgear. 600 volt to 15000 volt, 225 amp up to 5000 amp. Some as old as 1940's. Oldest one I ever personally worked on was a 1938 slate back 600 volt 225 amp. Rebuilt to better then new condition about 15 years ago, likely still in service, as the buyer felt it would be historically significant to keep this equipment in place...

I am retired, retired from 3 jobs finally. Now spend most my time at home or going to appointments. I enjoy the family, friends and fur friends. Activities are on the computer or gardening when I can.

Like most of us, I’ve had many great jobs and a couple of not so great jobs that have led me to where I am now.

I mucked out stalls, mowed lawns and worked in an ice cream shop in my school days. College days I worked for an electrician pulling wire up in attics one summer (drank 2 gallons of water a day and still couldn’t keep hydrated), bartended and lifeguarded. After college I proudly served as a police officer for several years until I was introduced to the world of medical devices. It intrigued me that “hardware guys” were an integral part of the operating room team; and I entered into the arena knowing that I could always return to law enforcement if I wanted. I spent almost 9 years in the field, have attended/helped with over 10,000 orthopedic trauma procedures, and hopefully have had a positive impact on those people’s lives. At the urging of one of my trauma surgeons, I left and took on a new role with a new orthopedics company on the management side. I love it because it’s a small company in the arena, so I get to wear a lot of hats- I’m still in the O.R. but I get to do so much more now, running the surgeon and field rep trainings, contracts, industry shows and events, etc.

Now that I’m in VA, they have a great reserve deputy sheriff program where I can volunteer my time and work alongside my brothers in blue. I’m looking forward to spending some weekends back in uniform, and continuing to help my community. Combine that with small time farming and my wood hoarding hobby, and I have a pretty full plate. I wouldn’t have it any other way!

I actually found a picture of it. The customers' original is on the left in the first pic, the shiny one is my replacement for it. Second pic is what I started with.

I got hardware and waiting for more as soon as the factory equipment is too bad to keep. Any recommendations on a hip thats good for say 40 years?

Well, all of the companies have gone through extensive testing and research/development to gain FDA approval and bring their products to market. I think one of the most important criteria is not only the hip implant but how comfortable the surgeon is with the procedure and that system of instrumentation. If they have trained with it and have put in at least 100 of that implant, the likelihood that it will be put in efficiently and in optimal position is very high.

That being said, there are a few variables in materials that you can have input on with your surgeon, and I am confident in recommending an anterior approach with a ceramic head and a poly liner, “ultra high demand.” If I was getting one tomorrow, I would insist on exactly that.

Can you pm me please. It's not tomorrow but I had an Ashtabula fracture a few years ago and replacement is inevitable. Thanks
