There are times when the body says no and I have to take a break. Right now we are Inbetween jobs and it feels like heaven. Starting a new frame the day before Xmas, looks like I'll have to dig out the bibs.

For one season I would finish up at my primary (night) job and go to the golf course and work with them until the end of their day at 1 PM. Home to crash, back to work by 11. I have mixed feelings about working like that and while I would do it again, it would only be if I was in dire straits and needed money. Its not real popular with the family either.

These days I spend more time in the shop, and just do weekends, early morning, at the golf course.

I hear ya on the being not so popular with the family, but when you look at the big picture (and sometimes they do not) we are the primary providers and sometimes the 2 jobs is what is necessary to make ends meet.
The part that scares me is the days and weeks of burning the candle on both ends, it will catch up eventually.

Equipment manager (title for someone that doesn't get their hands dirty often anymore) for the golf and grounds department of a resort during the day. Nights and weekends I do get my hands dirty. I have a repair shop at home for golf course equipment. Lots of reel mower sharpening, hydraulics, and small diesel work.

I've had a lot of jobs. Over the past 30 years my job titles, all in high tech, were Network Mgr., Data Center Manager, Product Manager, Technical Consultant, Program Manager etc .. all boring high-stress tech jobs. I retired last year at 62 after 48 years of being continu0usly employed when my Dad needed a lot of care for the past year.

Now I'm finally retired. I ride my scooters spring/summer/fall, and ski all winter. The company I worked for has me back as a trainer about once a quarter for a 4 day virtual classroom training class, and they pay me an outrageous amount of money to teach that. That's my Harley fund, and will pay for my daughters wedding this Spring.

    Life is good.

Well unless you get the slot that is a direct report to the company president it doesn't pay all the well. So you have to find out how high up your immediate super is in the company. It would also help if you can handle a ration as well as dish it out. Lower level PITA folks get taken out on a regular basis. So be careful out there it is a rough neighborhood.

I know all too well what the limits are on this PITA position are. Not to mention I was gifted with the art of sarcasm, that goes well with that job.
BUT, if you look at the end of my tongue you will see plenty of scar tissue, experience in biting before speaking :)

Back in the day I used to break a lot of pipe stems, they helped save my tongue.

PITA technicians require a high level of training ,as well as a certain amount of genetic inheritance. As well, it takes many years to prefect the craft. Ask me how I know this, I can show you the scars...........................P.S I can provide a list of references if needed. Now move along folks!!!!!!

You can call me dialtone man. I work in the telecommunications industry, installing and maintaining business telephone systems from 5 stations to 5000 as well as the data networking equipment that virtually all of those systems use today. Never a dull moment.

My apologies to anyone who has ever gotten stuck in voicemail jail on any systems I've worked on. I just do what the customer requests. :)

As you know Grumman builds the bodies, My Dad and I worked on the original tooling for them. The aerospace division did the design and tool fabrication for building them. I get a little smile whenever I see one.
