I was a Podiatrist for 25 years but was disabled after 5 strokes a year ago and retired from medicine. My recovery so far has been great and I'm designing/building a rocket stove powered patio heater/cook top/pizza oven that I hope to patent and market soon. (Anyone up for a Kickstarter for a new outdoor wood stove?)

Been working in voice communications since 81. The darn data side is taking it's toll on me anymore, well, that and 50+ hour weeks. Tried to slow down by selling my business, but that was a mistake. :hair:I try to take extreme pride in my work and that's gotten me this far. Purchased this house in 06 and it had a fireplace. After buying 2 loads of wood the first year I started finding my own. Now we all see where that's gotten me.

This is a great thread - fascinating to see the things we all do to keep the wheels turning!
Myself, a year retired from field service technician/engineer computer hardware repair. Had my function, department or company bought out or outsourced 7 times in my career.

Farming, Drove big rigs for a bit, Industrial electronics sales and application , Electrical eng. for a bit, Service manger/ repair- generally make make it happen for some 15 years + my own business in the same area on the side ( this was all on the road), got hurt pretty bad then a stroke- took a couple years to recover-pulled the cork on that in 93 and semi retired, Self employed - now have a little machine shop/wood working/ tool repair /sharpening/ welding/ proto types and any thing else legal for buck which pays the bills most of the time.( in other words jack of all trades master of none) since then. Got the big empty nest up on the market- time to down size and condense operations, in the process loose a bunch of overhead, if the stress doesn't do me in first. Wood heating has been a way of life since I was old enough to swing a hatchet. Federally certified old fart at this point.

Primary job classification is heavy equipment operator, about three days shy of 30 years. Then all the supporting trades like truck driver, laborer, mechanic, surveyor, engineer, fabricator and most importantly foreman/babysitter.

Thanks guys, this gives me a lot of hope. Having been completely disabled and retiring my medical license left us literally penniless and I had no idea how I could take this product from prototype to commercially available.

Think of a combination of deck & patio heater, cook top, pizza stove and ugly drum cooker/BBQ, all in one. But incredibly powerful, extremely efficient and truly clean burning using small amounts of wood. And the residential version is already on the drawing books ;-)

Brian you should start a Go Fund Me and put a link on here, I'm sure a lot of people here would be willing to kick in some me included.
That girl that made the kindling cracker started one up when she wanted to fund making a larger scale model, I don't remember how much she had raised yet when I looked at it, but it was growing
