I have not had a chance to get the wood yet. I got busy with work. Being self employed is great, but the work can be spotty at times. I had a job come in that needed to be done asap and it is a big one. A lady brought me her horse/travel trailer because it needed a bunch of work. I should be done with it today, and then I can start on the wood. My plan is to use the skid steer to push the trailer there and back, since I need it to load/unload anyway. My son can help with any manual maneuvering of the logs. I’m guessing there is at least 10-12 full trailer loads. Probably more.
I’ll get some. I have to get more totes made and filled before next week. It is supposed to be 90° and humid/rainy. I will run trips during breaks in splitting and stacking. I finished the horse/travel trailer and she picked it up. She is headed to Arizona with her horse(s) to visit friends and ride.
No way...really? How about if someone had a load of Hickory, all cut into perfect 20" rounds, sitting by the road for free, less than a mile from your house...hmmm?
Negative ghost rider. One of the benefits of the 6 year plan is I don’t have to bother when conditions aren’t favorable. I usually tap out above 85ish.
I learned to work in the brutal heat in Panama City and Tampa , Fl . No way I could keep up today, I'd be sick for sure. I try it now and it's work for ten minutes and rest for thirty, or more.
I got busy, but finally managed to make a run with the bobcat and trailer. It wasn’t too bad of a trip. I could probably go through the fence to reduce the travel time/distance, but I don’t want to just drive through their grass, so I take the driveway. We got a pretty good load on the trailer and made the trip home. There is dirt/dust on the logs, but a few rains will take care of most of it. The rest can be washed off with the hose or left alone. The logs are on my big pile. There will be way more than enough wood for even a week long gtg, but that’s ok. I need more! I am a wood hoarder after all. We didn’t even put a dent in the pile. There must be at least 20-30 more loads there. I probably used a gallon or so on this trip. Not too bad for a heaping trailer load! I am going just down the road to pick up some ash tomorrow. It’s already bucked and stacked. All I have to do is back up and load it. It will be multiple trailer loads. Here is a picture. I think they added to the pile since the picture was taken. Can you have too much wood???? I found the ash score today and my wife rolled her eyes. She went with me to look at it and felt better once she got to see it. It’s going straight through the splitter.
Can you just pick up the logs with your machine and drop them over the fence. No way I could/would let that much easy stuff get away.
We grabbed the entire pile of ash in one trip. My brother needed some firewood so he helped haul the rounds back to my place and I will load him up with logs for his return trip.
I just woke up from a well deserved nap. My brother made it home safely. He took a decent chunk of the big log pile the city left. He will probably be back for more. I don’t really care if I get it, just as long as it doesn’t go to waste. I have hauled some home, and will haul more home, but I won’t get all of it. I told my brother to get on the 3 year plan, and he said that sounds like a really good idea. He said what he hauled today should be close to a year supply, so a few more loads will get him there. My driveway pile is almost as big as it was this spring. Not a bad thing, but I do have some catching up to do.
