Guy is excited, then finds out it comes with a couple thousand square feet of hardwood maple flooring.

Started with the hearth. The ugly tile had to go so I pulled the insert, chipped it off and laid down a thin coat of cement. 353782F7-3E26-4E6F-8A51-50AE435EDB0D.jpeg 560A11E7-2074-4018-9CCF-DB177E5DF1EA.jpeg Turned out pretty good!

Next up getting rid of the old stained glass octagon and putting in a normal window. 0C64AD4C-4832-40C4-B500-53600E03F3FA.jpeg 5DF89714-AF55-4756-B1D9-A7D5889F065C.jpeg 62E46133-3427-4F3E-B404-BD8D02469C84.jpeg
Had to strip the vinyl and fiberboard siding and remove some of the interesting framing that was in place to take up the space of what looked like original window. Still have to bend up some aluminum to trim the window.

Of course you can't forget to repaint to a shade of gray. 0883353A-9305-42BA-8995-04FA6364F488.jpeg ABE6975C-5AFA-42C7-8CAE-4307139B35A1.jpeg
Oh did I mention the hours of nail pulling, planing, trimming and re- tongue and grooving?! A2BF260E-147D-4F90-A8B7-BB3588D254E5.jpeg
Ripped out the carpet, padding, tack strips and 8 million staples then started putting down the maple. 48D1D321-2A09-47FE-A01C-E9A1517C1224.jpeg 26C43A24-D78D-40BC-AD00-95AB3AB2E7FD.jpeg 1F24EE5D-63D0-4EFE-942C-C1F88FB33A10.jpeg 2245B68E-9A60-47E4-880E-302DD8CDD4F3.jpeg
Still got some trim work to do so more to come!
Next up I hear the kitchen may be on the list!!:faint:

Well, with all your work, I noticed, the turkey feet are missing from your plaque. Although then you can set the length of the spurs to your desired story at that time! The pictures of the floor, made my knees hurt. Heck they still hurt from the last house my son and law and I laid flooring in. Great job!

The feet are actually in a cabinet that got moved out to the porch. I planned on incorporating them into some black smithed bookends I’ve been wanting to make, but who knows when that will be! As for the knee pain.... you ain’t kidding!!!

Put on minwax early American stain then minwax polyurethane floor in satin. We didn’t want to much gloss.

I am really impressed. Esp. that you pulled out that carpet. Have come to hate carpet except for small area carpets that can easily be changed out.

I was hoping you had found a way to install the flooring with the dozer.

    Awesome work!

Awesome job on the flooring and everything else you have tackled. Can't wait to see what happens to the kitchen now.
