OMG that was super slow Mo. That thing makes the old Didier seem fast.

They must have gave him the splitter in exchange for a good review. He didn’t even make a mention of how painfully slow it is.
But, on the plus side,…. You’ll never run out of wood because the trees will grow faster than you can split them.

i get the impression the footplate doesn’t hit the ground first. That would negate any benefit of a vertical splitter

My old DHT was rated at 10 seconds if I remember. A little faster than most box store splitters. The new ACLS is 6-7 seconds. I’ve never even ran the motor up to full throttle on that machine to find out. With the box wedge I run it at quarter throttle. Saves gas, less noise. Speed doesn’t give extra power so it’s fine as is.

That was my first thought, and he confirmed that. Those"wings" he added don't do anything but get in the way. I can just imagine the sore back from using that for 30 minutes.

I can’t imagine using it for 30 seconds. I like to spoil myself because no one else will LOL
Guess if you want to make kindling on your knees it would work. I split on my knees for 25 years with one of those ground huggers. I ain’t going back.

That thing is worse than a ground hugger. The Didier we have is low, but not that low. The didier's lowness allows you to roll big rounds onto the beam without bending over. This thing has 3 things going for it. It was well made and nice to look at, compact, and would be great for ballast for the FEL or snowblower.
